NutriBig Fat Keto Lies - Dat
My new book clarifies the most common misconceptions and mistakes with low carb and 'ketogenic' diets through the lens of Nutritional Optimisation.

Keto Lie #1: 'Optimal ketosis' is a goal and more ketones are better
Keto Lie #2: You have to be 'in ketosis' to burn fat
Keto Lie #3: You should eat more fat to burn more fat
Keto Lie #4: Protein should be avoided because of gluconeogenesis
Keto Lie #5: Fat is a 'free food' because it doesn't elicit an insulin response
Keto Lie #6: Food quality is not important, it's all about insulin and avoiding carbs
Keto Lie #7: Fasting for longer is better
Keto Lie #8: Insulin toxicity is enemy #1
Keto Lie #9: Calories don't count
Keto Lie #10: Stable blood sugars will lead to fat loss
Keto Lie #11: You should 'eat fat to satiety' to lose body fat
Keto Lie #12: If in doubt, keep calm and keto on

I’m so proud that one of our Aussies cracked the code!
You and Dr Naiman are spot on! I was doing keto and yo-yo dieting and chugging down the fats only to realise I was putting on weight. This was hard especially at 52 peri menopausal and training like crazy. Thank you fir all your information Marty really appreciate your input ☺️🙏

I came at ketogenic dieting from the POV of epilepsy long before it was "trending" for weight loss. The traditional 4:1 keto plan for epilepsy did help my seizure disorder but going fully carnivore has cured it completely. I am in a low but steady state of ketosis on carnivore. I fully agree that chasing higher and higher numbers on the ketone meter is missing the point even for people with a serious medical condition such as epilepsy.

Watched the Ted Naiman interview and am very impressed with the knowledge shown. Am always glad to learn more about our bodys inner workings.

Love this. I have lost weight on Keto mostly Carnivore. OMAD too with some alternate day fasting. This makes so much more sense to me! Gonna make some tweaks.

I love how Ted admits he got lost in the rabbit hole that is keto. It's important to know this because if a Dr with nutrition education can be susceptible to this, imagine the average Joe out there.

I guess it's a matter of the definition of what "works"

People think all sorts of things "work", and perhaps the placebo affect of this belief helps people - carnivore, vegan, keto, whatever.

The assumption I think with keto is that the state of ketosis is more important to the body than nutrients

I had enormous success with keto - initially. It's a great kick start

But after 5 years of exhaustive research came to the conclusion that protein and nutrient density is the long term way for me to go

I don't think my body needs coconut oil, cream and other fats as the the main "fuel" at this point

Good luck to everyone on their personal journey

This is nice to see. The title is fun. As someone who did Atkins 30 years ago as a diet not a lifestyle and who came back to Low Carb after age 50 to drop my BMI and get into a better eating program I can say it looks like we are moving into what I might call WAVE 3 of Low Carb eating. The dogma is starting to soften with people like you and Ted Naiman. I follow P:E principles. Intermittent fasting (say 24 hours between meals 2-3 times a week) is super easy to do eating high nutrient density foods. No need to constantly snack on fat and nuts (like I did with Atkins). I look forward to reading your book. All carbs are not the enemy of humankind, but most carbs will fill that role until there is a better plan. It's obvious that carbs are what are killing most of us. When in doubt shoot the closest enemy (carbs) and learn over time. Thanks again. I look forward to reading your book.

This confirms a lot of what I figured was true: eat nutrient-dense food, eat for satiety, get plenty of protein.... Although, I never put the idea of how fat affects insulin together before and the protein being more satient is new to me - good info. Some of the other stuff listed, I'd never heard of like: Insulin Toxicity and stable blood sugar leading to fat loss. So it sounds like there probably is a lot of bad assumptions/info out there. Thanks for clearing that up.

Thank you so much for your efforts to help people move forward in their health journey, Marty! Three years on keto and still looking to increase my satiety and take in more nutrient dense food. Looking forward to reading your book and will be saving my pennies to join your next challenge!

I have trouble with keto and don’t understand why I wasn’t getting the results as everyone else. Not sustainable for me. I just want to eat healthy and there is to much conflicting information out there. Bodybuilding diets work too but none are sustainable. Maybe I will try this

And all this is why keto high-fat, etc. never worked for me. And I did it perfectly. Need to get this book.

I’m 75 and about 20 kilograms over weight, I cut my food intake and started doing 10, 000 steps a day for weeks but lost nothing, so I went to 15, 000 steps a day and still lost nothing, I then purchased The Zion book and started following Barrie’s advice, now I’m loosing 1 kilo a week, with my new low blood sugar levels, but only if I do my 10, 000 steps a day, it seems for me I have to do both to actually loose weight ?
Great book !

I've been doing some version of Atkins or Keto for 20 years, and honestly, I've not had a problem with any of these "keto lies." What he is saying is true (IMO) but is addressed already in the research. If you are new to keto and uninformed, this is good information, but nothing is new here. I think it's a bit of a lie to claim that these "lies" are systemic (or even exist in some cases!). It's an exaggeration. I see a lot of this as rehashing old information into a conspiracy theory about "lies." If you are well informed about keto, this information brings nothing new to the table. If you are new to keto, this is good information. For example, do any keto experts really say, "food quality is not important; eat any crap you want as long as it's not carbs?" I can't think of any. Furthermore, if they did say that, would you need someone else to tell you not to believe it? Even Marty admits they are not lies but rather "half-truths, " so he's acknowledging that the book title is a bit disingenuous. Keep in mind; there is a product for sale here.
