Me as someone who writes the code 😂 That blueprint scared the hell out of me it looks intimidating compared to typical code writing

I've worked with both. C# is pretty fun to code with, but overall I feel like Unreal has fit my needs better. It's a little dangerous to say you can use blueprint even if you dont know how to code. It is just a visual representation of the code. You still need to know how to code to understand good practices vs bad practices.

Using Unity currently because the learning curve isn’t steep, the big list of assets/resources, and it’s spec requirements (I don’t have a beast of a PC). But eventually I plan to move Unreal due to the requirements I want for my next game, though that’s far off from now.

Just pick one, it does not matter which one, trust me, your first game wont push the limits of either engine.

Let me make more simple, if your computer have good cooling system then go for unreal
If not, unity
I recently working on unreal and beleive me my GPU (Rx 7800xt) and cpu cooler is like burning stoves, sometimes I have to remove cabinet panel to increase air flow

It depends. I would start with unity for smaller games. But say I made a very detailed game with a lot in it I would go for unreal engine

Visual scripting is just a barrier preventing you from learning how to code. Just learn to code. Also, Unity can look as good as Unreal. The 'Unreal looks better' argument is such a noob argument, especially since very few people end up maxing out the visuals on either engine. Pick whatever engine seems best for your situation and enjoy.

Started out with unity for mobile and low end pc’s, but then when I wanted to appeal to a wider audience I just switched to unreal for steam and the free had assets. I am happy with unreal so far. A shame that I didn’t switch earlier. I have 4 years experience with unity and know the Ins and outs, but still a shame :/.

To be fair the new runtime fee only applies to people that arent using the free version and not using the newest versions of unity. Only issue is that they could come out and say that it now applies to every version and the free license. Unity is my favorite engine and i really dont want to have to switch if they do hit me with run time fees i will have no choice but to switch

Blueprint system cuts your coding time by 5. For the past couple of years i was using python, lua and c#.
I didnt know c++, but Blueprint looked terrible at first. After making my own macros for basic features that were missing(DoN, for/while loops with delays) and getting used to it - i will never switch back to normal coding. You can shit out enitre advanced inventory systems with a couple of structs and 3 hours of your time.

when i saw adam and rakka from oatsstudios and what they was able to create with the unity engine i was blown away! and years before knowing new'n'tasty i said to myself: it would be awesome if owi would make a abes oddysee remaster in unity. then 2015 i discovered new'n'tasty and was like what, they really did a remaster of it in unity!

I exclusively use unreal for all of my projects. Will never, ever touch unity.

I started my game dev journey on unreal, decided to learn how to code, started using unity and now im back to using unreal engine
I feel like unreal had a much better learning curve compared to unity

I’m indie, Unreal is a memory muncher, so I use Unity cuz I don’t need the graphics, plus it doesn’t require twice the amount of RAM I actually have

trying to get unity looking like unreal is like pulling teeth, also unity requires you to get unity pro if you want to put your games on consoles.
