Are you thinking about signing up for a coding bootcamp? Did you attend a bootcamp and got a job as a developer? Let me know in the comments!

I was actually thinking about a coding bootcamp because of imposter syndrome, im self teaching and my head is always telling "HOw are you going to compete with people who actually went to school?" But Im dirt broke and in debt, so those are my main motivations lol and Ive been everyday studying and learning cause if I do get a web dev job it will change my life and the life of my love ones. Plus I really love coding. Keep strong my fellow learners!!!

JUST A SIDE NOT FOR EVERYONE! About 1 month into self taught AND have a friend who is in a boot camp. Right now he's 1 week ahead in progress but so far I understand concepts better, work better and can do more with the knowledge I have. I just work harder and let myself rest on weekend not to overload myself. Right now he does have people that can answer his questions but I have to search the internet and YouTube to get answers and you know what, I like that. Helps me search for knowledge an develop learning better. I explain to my friends and siblings who have no idea and because of that I understand better. Hopefully in the future ill get a job offer and maybe 2-4 more months I will be done and job ready as I can be (ill never feel ready tho) so I have hope

Something to remember is that doing self-taught means you have a personal history of being able to commit to learning a skill over many months. If you haven't done that before or you have something like ADHD, a bootcamp can provide the mentorship and pressure that's so necessary to get things done and focus on important concepts.

Bootcamps aren't for everyone, learning enough to get a job on your own isn't for everyone.

I did a bootcamp, and it took over a year for me to land my first full-time job. However, what actually got me the job was the contract experience I got through the bootcamp resources. Someone there got me in touch with a company needing some work done.

Before I had that on my resume? No interviews. Afterwards, it took less than 2 months for me to get hired because I was actually getting responses to me resume.

Something to think about. Even a little contract experience can go a huge way for getting hired.

7:27 probably the best advice I've heard. I've signed to many courses, design, programming, marketing but haven't finished all. Test yourself with a shorter course and then decide the best without wasting a lot of money. Also, not all the programmers are successful, then better choose a major you love and enjoy, so if you don't succeed at least enjoyed the journey.

I like how you have a diffuser next to your computer.

My dream is to teach people code free so that they at least get a job and support their family. I spend a lot of time without having a guidance so I want to guide people. I hope one day I will make my dream come true.

Dorian has amazing videos. In fact I agree with him, I already got my first IT job ever !!! And I did it by my self just learning with Udemy and Platzi. Now my life has change and I did not use any Bootcamp. They are not necessary, and yes once you get the job you still have to work a lot by yourself. But it is achievable !!!

I'm going for a Computer Information Systems A.S. degree at 29 years old. Just applied to a computer repair shop to gain some experience as well. I've been teaching myself web-development, and used Treehouse, but there just isn't a big job market in my area with it. IT on the other hand they are absolutely desperate for people everywhere! I plan on getting a cert for web-development next summer at the college or knocking out the Treehouse Techdegree in 2 months, instead of going on break.

i attended lambda and it was the worst decision ever, started off good but every month came with big changes that removed support for you, they then decided to make STUDENTS mentors and REMOVE graduating students as mentors like it was before. They removed all financial help, removed the computer lending, etc.
Edit: Lambda is now bloom institute, i suffer from adhd but thanks to these videos i have been learning and trying harder to do things myself. One thing you will get from a boot camp that has classes is a support system from other students and sometimes previous students but the actual school is NOT NEEDED. join forums and discords and talk to people and code together on zoom that is the best way to do this thing without spending 10-30k, Oh yeah lambda was 30k and now im stuck with a loan and not much knowledge

Did a bootcamp, but have spent the last year and a half filling in the knowledge gaps. They throw a lot at you in the 22 weeks, and it feels like you're just rushing to complete the projects/group assignments. It's kind of like that scene from "Old School" where Will Ferrell goes into this zone to answer some math problems, but then when he comes out of it he's like "what happened".

Hi, could you make a video about front end projects to build a good portfolio? Thanks!

Great advice Dorian, also there are many other jobs in tech that don't involve programming. Those jobs might be better for some folks out there.

In the current cohort of 100 devs and honestly get in there people. Way better than free code camp as it’s instructor led and community taught. Leon is such a nice human. All free no bullshit. Community is great.

Check with some of your local community colleges, they may have cheap coding camps specific to a language.

Can we ban ISAs please? It is so predatory and detrimental. Does way more harm than good from what I hear. I was thankful to not have to get into an ISA when I went to my bootcamp, but I couldn't imagine having to pay back 30% or more of my salary to the bootcamp for three years, which in total would cost far more than what the original cost was.

Seriously, don't do it. Take out a loan if you have to. The interest rate on that loan is not as bad as an ISA. Do whatever you have to in order to avoid ISAs. Or you will absolutely regret it.

There are no quick entrances into coding BUT there are 'quicker than other ways' of doing it. Its about making SMARTER moves, not lots of moves.

Started off learning Python but I don’t know until when I’m considered good enough for any type of job. Watching this video reassured that even getting a certificate from a bootcamp won’t change that feeling either 😅

Please do a review on the new Meta Career Certificates for Front-End and Back-End Developers! Your analysis of their usefulness would be the one I trust the most.
