I’m in a similar situation as you. I keep trying to talk myself into buying the PS5 Pro. But I’ve come to the conclusion, if I have to talk myself into buying it, I don’t really need it. I think it woulda been more enticing if it was launching with a big new first party PS game.

Sony is one notch away from being dead to me this gen. I've gone from two shelves of PS4 games to still a single digit of PS5 games. And $700 for no physical media drive??? GTFO, Sony.

Digital foundry tests show about 30% more performance average in boost mode and it’s also a fair bit louder than standard according to Austin Evans.They are still the same games after all and most of them run and look great already.I say wait for the ps6 so you at least see a decent jump for your money.

We can't even get PS5 exclusives because almost every game that comes out, is still cross Gen. WTH thought this PS5 pro was even needed?! We can't even utilize the standard PS5 to it's full potential because of cross gen games but yet someone at Sony really thought this was a better idea than making PS5 exclusives...let that sink in!

PC might be more expensive up-front but you save a ton of money on games. I get games from Sony, PC and XBOX. My games from 20 years ago still play on my current PC. Games can be de-listed but access to games I bought 20 years ago are not removed from my library (for now). I have access to mods and/or more mods than consoles. With my PC and Switch, there is not much that I don't have access to.

I’m still happy with my Series X I purchased in 2021 that has a disc drive. Has been great in terms of performance for everything I’ve thrown at it plus I can also enjoy Blu rays & backwards compatible games that I’ve kept physically in my library over the decades. Just my opinion though.

1) That's not entirely true. You can definitely build a PC that'll offer better value in some areas, less value in others. But...

2) It doesn't matter anyway, as the whole point of consoles is that they're supposed to offer better price to performance value in the first place! The fact the PS5 Pro comes within range of PC pricing means it's failing that point to begin with!

When the $200 N64/GC or $300 PS2 or $300 - $400 360 came out, they punched WAY above their price point in terms of what they offered. You could not build a $200 PC that played games like the N64. You could not build a $200 PC that was anywhere near what a Gamecube offered.

Even at $400 with its underpowered CPU, the PS4 was putting out games that looked like Bloodborne, The Order 1886 or Killzone. PC's could always do more if you invested the money, but they were relatively separate comparisons & had different audiences up through the PS3/360 era.

But Sony has priced a digital-only *CONSOLE* right near the fringe of mid-range PC gaming. That's the problem.
