I had to downvote you. Do not say "STOP Doing Planks!" in a title when you confirmed it's ok. What you are concerned about is HOW it's being done. Saying your title of the video is misleading and dangerous for folks that don't look into it beyond the title.

Clickbait. There's nothing wrong with planking along with other forms of exercise.

Planks will always be in my daily exercise routine. I have seen a big improvement in my abs and other parts of my body.

Planks saved me from a herniated disc injury. I couldn’t do any exercise (or even walk straight). All I could physically manage to do were planks. I worked my way up to a 12 minute plank and by that time saw huge improvement in my recovery by strengthening my core and lower back.

Thank you! I'm halfway through a 30-day plank challenge with some friends and everyone is complaining about shoulder pain and wrist pain. I get that you must have perfect form, but I also find it incredibly BORING! Adding movement, or doing something completely different, is much more appealing. I will check out your workouts.

I’ve recently started doing 60 second planks & it has helped reduce my lower back pain significantly

As a strength and conditioning coach and nutritionist myself, I would have to greatly disagree with the majority of this video. If, yes, done with proper form, there are way more benefits than detriments to this exercise. It helps correct posture, strengthen your core and lower back, as well as your shoulders (and depending on muscle development specificities, quads as well). This exercise is incredible for anyone with super tight hip flexors (most of western culture, due mainly to sitting recurrently for long periods of time) because it is not a hip initiated exercise. I, and most of the other people I've helped over longer periods of time, have noticed massive improvements in lower back pain and hip flexibility. I will mention, I do really agree that doing planks for extended periods of time isn't useful in anyway.

I ended up greatly increasing my lower back pain arthritis pain with planks. I stopped for a week and the pain just about went away. I switched to supermans, half-supermans and cobra stretches and have been doing MUCH better. I see you have a bunch of videos on a variety of topics including rotator cuff exercises. Look forward to digging through them all. Thanks!

ONE: I agree. This "plank" here is the "american plank." In the original Yoga plank you stand on your hands, not your elbows. Has no shoulder or elbow side effects and strengthens almost your entire body. If you take ANY posture to extremes, specially the tough ones like the plank, they can harm you. Been practicing Classical Hatha Yoga for over 40 years. TWO: What she says about a non-moving posture being useless (I hate to disagree with Kristie b/c she means well and shows MANY good ideas and postures) I disagree with. Simply put, if she were correct, the entire Yoga Practice would be useless, because in its origins in India, Yoga was and still is non-moving. Its amazing benefits are WHY Yoga made it to America and Europe in the first place!!! Thumbs up for you always Kristie. I respect your practice and teachings.

This is what grinds my gears, so much contradictory info on exercises and diet.

I agree with her. She makes a strong point. Active planks versus Passive planks. And YES, I have seen a 60 plus year old guy doing 17 minute plank to raise money for an organization at an event.

If it’s been working for you keep doing it. I’ve learned from watching some of these videos that some of these people are just straight up lying. Especially about sit-ups and crunches. They will say that their bad for you and then show these commercials of people doing them incorrectly. Just so they can sell whatever exercise program their pitching.

Thank you for sharing these variations of the plank and the additional challenges 🙏

I actually do planks before I go into my ab routine and I have to say, I feel it helps my posture. I agree though, adding movement will definitely take you to another level.

absolutely you are correct as plank hold add muscles more strength but if we do a bundle of multiple planks variations then sure it will add extended muscles strength in our body. I'm doing static plank hold for 3 minutes for 4 days week along with plank variations hence your advice is worthwhile. I'm doing running three days in week & daily strength training & yoga followed by Deep breathing exercises along with meditation🧘‍♀️🧘‍♀️ So I love my such workout as it gifted me every thing in my life. I do in open ground in beautiful nature🌿🍃. thanks my dear 💕💕with love ❤

I stopped doing planks because they were hard on my shoulders. One minute into the video and I finally understand why. Thank you!

What's funny is that right after watching this video, I saw another one on the sidebar by this same person, TELLING you to do this plank. The video was from 2018. I've seen many "experts" "teach", then un-teach what they taught earlier. What did they learn between then and now?? Who's copying whom?? Follow the leader? Who's your leader?
