How long does it take for a woman’s body to recover from pregnancy?
Показать описание
You wanted to know, in general, how long it takes for a woman's body to recover from pregnancy. And for a woman who has had a vaginal delivery, it usually takes about 6 weeks or so. And this is the first time you'll see the doctor after delivery if all has gone well. And that's when they'll check you out, and make sure that everything has healed properly, that breastfeeding is going well, you're not having any issues with that, and that you also feel like your hormones have stabilized, and you're feeling a little bit more like yourself again, because it is normal for your hormones to be out of whack for the first few weeks after having a baby, and you may cry for no reason, and be a little bit teary, a little bit anxious (these are called postpartum blues), but everything should be feeling a lot better by about 6 weeks.
If you've had a C-section, you had abdominal surgery, and so you have all of the healing associated with the pregnancy as well as the healing associated with the surgery, and so the recovery time is longer, usually about 8 weeks. And typically speaking, a woman will see a doctor a couple of weeks after delivery and again at 8 weeks to be checked, and to make sure that her body is healing properly, and she's not having complications.
