Raw chicken is either completely safe or will make you EXTREMELY sick. This isn't the case with beef, where you're more concerned with things like mad cow's disease, etc.. that are much easier to notice in a herd and far less common. Salmonella is very prevalent and due to the quick turnover rate of chicken at slaughterhouses far less likely to be noticed.
