There’s still a gap buddy. How not to cope

If you cut your straight cut at 15 degrees it will fit tighter

I have yet to see a hole that caulk wouldn’t fill😂

It is the difference between a real carpenter and a hack.

I've trimmed for 30 years and this is how it's done CORRECT.

My 45 cut looks far superior to that gappy join 😂

It’s called scribing. The saw you use is called a coping saw.

All of these Styles I have done in all work pretty good only thing nobody has mentioned yet if she'll let the other end of your trim run a little wild with the square in set it set your cut in in place and lightly tap it

Good job, simple and straight forward 👍🏾

Works for production. But for high end trim, cut as close and you possibly can then file the rest, so you don’t get those little imperfection you had, When you get it that tight the painter doesn’t need to caulk it!

I do a 45 forward cut, do a back cut on the straight section instead of the coping saw, then use an angle grinder to cut the cope to the 45 line on the shaped part of the joint.

Instead of using a coping saw to cut the straight part use a mitre saw and finish with the coping saw. Saves time and cleaner work

Behind every good carpenter is a great painter with a tube of caulk.

The reason for coping, is to allow for expansion and contraction. Cope and chase.

I use it all the time, have for 30 years but for it to look really good it very much depends on where they have taken care when moulding the board, usually it’s off slightly, but back cutting gives room for correction at cut

It does but Shoot your nails a little further out so the painter can take care of them easier

I cut the bottom straight on the miter saw, saves a little time

Ugh, again please. I need to learn this and crown moulding is too expensive to practice with. 😩

Everyone is talking about a 0.01mm gap like its not going to get a bead of caulk over it anyway. 😂 Good luck trying to get a job if you spend all day installing skirting like you're some kind of furniture maker.
