It's the extra steps that make all the difference between an adequate job and an excellent job.
IMO - if it pertains to your own home, things such as baseboards are probably only going to be installed once in your lifetime. So put the little extra work in. You're already there with the materials and tools. Do an excellent job and spend the rest fo your life admiring your work.

The baseboard sand paper trick blew my mind, so simple you would think everyone knew about it but I've never seen it done. I know a lot about this type of work but I never know when I might see a new little trick, this was one of those times. Great video.

For something that invariably goes unnoticed or hidden by furniture, I'm in awe of your attention to detail. I've reskirted only one house and it was a nightmare, not a single 90 degree corner.
