High Blood Sugar and Insulin Resistance with Doctor Mike Hansen

A lot of blood sugar enters the bloodstream. The pancreas pumps out more insulin to get blood sugar into cells. Over time, cells stop responding to all that insulin—they've become insulin resistant.

Insulin resistance is a feature of type 2 diabetes, and it can be present with prediabetes. Insulin is essential for enabling the body to use glucose effectively and prevent blood sugar levels from rising too high. When insulin does not work effectively, blood sugar levels can rise, and diabetes can develop.

🙏🏼🙏🏼 Thank You, I was "Was" and "Had" borderline diabetes and High blood pressure and by making small changes in my food and increasing my daily exercise Meditation 🧘‍♀️ and Prayer I have been off all meds and loosing weight and have enjoyed my life and relationships with others. There is no quick fix or perfect pill. I enjoyed this video. I now believe I can go back to the meds and depression if I go back to the way of eating and living as I did in the past. Thank you for the wellness you bring to our lives by your medical talents. Peace to your Spirit! Live well Doc and Be well 😘

Diabetes Type 3c deserves an episode of its own. Similar to DT1, but treated differently bc of the need for higher carbs. Info that’s good to know! 👍🏼

Thanks for addressing hyperinsulinemia. Too many docs are still looking at glucose and glucose alone. I've had to educate my Primary Care doc by sending links to studies and research. It's been a battle. I do IF and extended Fasts, LCHF diet reversed my 20plus years Type 2. Worked on that beginning June 2021. I had to drag her along with me LOL

Thank you, Dr. Hansen, I now have a clear understanding of diabetes. I have begun exercising every day and I am still on the meds. I have a blood test next month so hopefully, I will go off the meds. Thank you.

Please do more videos on this subject. Also, on how to use diet to help control or fix this problem.

My horse has insulin resistance that caused laminitis (inflammation in hoof lining), which leads to pain & lameness. Diet of low sugar & exercise as tolerate (& keeping weight down) is a constant battle to keep him doing well.

Since, I was diagnosed with diabetes 8 months ago, I have worked hard to get off my 2 metformines a day that i was taking. My aim was to reduce my insuline resistence, so I started working out harder and harder and since last 2 months I am off the meds and yet my daily sugar intake is zero and my carbs intake is to necessary levels only.

I started taking GNC's Diabetic Support. My blood sugar would run around 104 at fasting. After I started taking it. It dropped to 89.

Great insights! Any commentary on high fat diets contributing to insulin resistance as well?

The sound effects are a nice touch, but they're pretty loud compared to your voice. Also, short sound effects for a slow animation...?

This was so informative and frightening I'm worried that I was misdiagnosed I mean they say I don't have high blood pressure and I haven't tension and I'm 65 but I'm having problems in my legs and now I'm going to go show this to my doctor. I know he's going to poo poo it away but then I'm going to go get a second opinion thank you so much forever grateful.

But the problem isn’t just added sugars. If you get a continuous glucose monitor you will see things like cereals, pastas, potatoes all raise you BG levels a lot (especially if you are insulin resistant)…meaning your body must produce a lot of insulin to bring down those glucose levels. The fact is that doctors need to put their patients on CGMs LONG before any other therapy. That continuous stream of data will quickly teach anyone what they can and cannot eat. Their weight will drop. Their hbA1C will drop. Their hypertension will drop. You will be de-prescribing a lot of medications.
