At 45:03, I mistyped. It should be LANG=en_US.UTF-8. That is, with an underscore between en and US. *not* a hyphen.

`base` group replaced by mandatory `base` package - manual intervention required

2019-10-06

The base group has been replaced by a metapackage of the same name. We advise users to install this package (pacman -Syu base), as it is effectively mandatory from now on.

Users requesting support are expected to be running a system with the base package.

Addendum:
Be aware that base as it stands does not currently contain:
- A kernel
- An editor

... and other software that you might expect. You will have to install these separately on new installations.





What this means: When installing you'll now need to install : base, linux (the kernel), linux-firmware and a text editor of your choice (nano or vim etc) at a minimum. You may also want base-devel, and appropriate networking and filesystem utilities. Check the Arch install guide on their wiki.

Luke, I followed your example word for word and made my own Archlinux base. The I followed up with Derek Taylors openbox for arch and later went off on my own and installed the goodies that I wanted. You guys rock! I have a bug free, gorgeous dark themed install of archlinux and i've learned a whole bunch in the process of making it. You've earned a sub and a fan too.. thanks Luke

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO USE ETHERNET AND USING WIFI-MENU DOESN'T WORK:
Issue the command 'ip link'. This will list your internet interfaces. You'll see something like 'emp0s3'. This is your Ethernet Interface, because it starts with an E. You'll also see something like 'wls1'. This is your Wi-Fi Interface.
Once you've found your Wi-Fi Interface, issue the command 'wifi-menu -o your Wi-Fi Interface here'. The -o tells Wifi-Menu what Interface to use. Connect to your Wi-Fi, and then follow the instructions of the video.
