Archlinux install in less than 10 minutes on a UEFI system

Using bootctl as you should & not grub! You need a GPT style partition table, so you need to use gdisk.

You might have to select UEFI boot in your BIOS over "legacy" for older machines.

Every time I install Linux I play this video and I try to race with him. He usually wins for about 1 hour :)

Thank you for making this video!

this video is so helpful i come back to it every time i need to reinstall arch because its much quicker than other installation ways and works really good since im using a XiaoMi Air laptop which has uefi instead of bios and anytime i try another way it always reverts back to legacy bios. thank you for this fast and to the point tutorial. and you are fun to listen to unlike some people who are very boring, slow, and have garbage mics. thanks again for this great video

Thanks for this, Kai! I wouldn't have gotten it w/out your guide. It took me about four hours, hah. I'm new to Arch; only using it about a week. For anyone getting a "swap" error on their sda2, simply create a swap on sda2 (put "8200" where "EF00" went w/ sda1) and put your Linux filesystem on sda3 just like the video. I Frankensteined your guide w/ another I had. When I got it, man, I was happy. Cheers!

Thanks for reading my mind. This was exactly the thing I was about to do in the coming days. Now I know to go with bootctl instead of grub when dualbooting. Tried the process on VM first and everything went as planned.

I just spent 5 hours trying to get ArchLinux installed. I decided to start again, found this video and had it installed and working in 10 minutes. Thank you!

the best and most recent tutorial to install linux i see so far. bad point is that you type the commands too fast to notice them

On my existing install I converted the boot partition from grub to esp (created vfat /boot set flags and was good to go) I had to reinstall kernel under chroot and setup fstab with /boot, from there I was good to go... Very very fast booting now... thanks ;-)

Thank you for this video I managed to boot into arch on ssd :D I was having a lot of trouble for some reason I was caught up on legacy boot and kept using grub. Never again!

Can someone explain the mirrorlist part? What he types after the vim part?

You can also use fdisk and the g command to create a new empty GPT partition table.

BTW this is one of the best arch install guides I've seen on youtube.

Great video! Goes to show arch pays off. The only thing is that since bootctl can be subject to manual errors it's good to know that if you can't boot, you boot up the iso again remount the partitions, and then chroot in again and fix your bootloader config, and if you're still having trouble with bootctl then you just install grub. Btw I suppose you noticed you forgot the h in arch linux for arch.conf. Also did you end up putting a space between arch and linux?
