I remember the days when installing arch Linux was painful on a VM
But I never gave up after 25 installs with different image on a limited internet connection that is my hotspot I somehow managed to install arch with kde and then customisation
After this it didn't stop my curiosity and I tried Freebsd with kde
Now I am with i3wm finally got some peace but never stop learning ✌️

Good job Makc!! I've been playing with Linux for a few months mostly Ubuntu server to run PiHole and three weeks ago decided to check out Archlinux via VM. I went through the exact same process you did today and had very similar hang ups but like everything that's new, it feels really rewarding once you figure things out. Looking forward to the next part!

After vbox creation on details view you can change video memory size from 128 to 256
Before installation you can choose vboxsvga graphic controller. It will enable automatic resolution change inside guest machine (don't enable 3d acceleration)

With pacstrap you should add vim nano... networkmanager
It's in installation buide.
After chroot (before reboot you can install packages)

I think you missed a little step when you were generating your locales. You have to open the locale file (/etc/locale.gen) and uncomment the line that you want your locale to be (probably this line: en_US.UTF-8 UTF-8), and then generate by running locale-gen.
And set your LANG variable too by creating this file: /etc/locale.conf, and writing this line in there "LANG=en_US.UTF-8". For more details, it's in the Arch wiki.
And welcome to the Arch Linux community!!!

Why do you use nano when vim isn't installed instead of - I don't know - VI ?

When you edited your /etc/hosts file the last line should have been 127.0.1.1 .... You put 127.0.0.1 .... You may want to fix that.
