Funeral directors have been raising the rates lately. They blame it on the cost of living

In honor of your trip to America, how about a reaction vid?
I suggest James Taylor - Carolina in my mind, You've got a Friend, or Fire and Rain.

The only special ask we had when in Ireland was asking for non alcoholic beer for my husband who doesn’t drink. (anymore) We were at dinner and they didn’t have any so he settled for a soft drink. The next night we had the same waiter who’d tracked some down for him.

Congrats on 1000 videos! That's amazing. Now, as an American living in Prague for seven years, I know that I still stand out a bit, but I am trying to assimilate. I'm slowly learning Czech for iunstance. I've been using the public transportation here and it is amazing and cheap. I'm originally from California and I used to love to drive everywhere, but I can honestly say that not owning a car has been profoundly freeing. It doesn't hurt that the public transport goes everywhere in the city, runs 24 hours, except the subway, and my yearly transit pass costs about $180.00. That is less than half of my last monthly car payment. Also, the city has had contactless payments almost everywhere since before I moved here although there are a few places, mostly small restaurants, that only take cash. Generally speaking, I have to say that I love living here over the states. :-)

Southerner here, I always stack the plates and try to put the trash parts on top to help the waiters/waitresses. I’ve had friends that were waitstaff and I just thought it was more polite. 🤷‍♀️

In the US it's becoming more common for businesses to have a surcharge when paying by card, usually with a sign that it's because fees from card issuers have gotten too high.

I used to stack up the empty dishes for the server, but have since learned that they know the best way to carry these items, and typically have to undo whatever patrons stack up -- servers generally would rather do it themselves.

An American comedian, Robert Klein, had a way to spot a foreign tourist. Toss them a ball. They will instinctively _not_ touch it with their hands. Foot or head. That’s it.

I don't mind if I'm spotted as a tourist. I just want to be a tourist that makes the native population glad to have me visit.

Live in NY and never saw a person with a phone around their neck. Chicks put em in there back pockets, men shirt pocket. I won't buy a shirt if it don't have a pocket

7:58 There was actually once a woman who died from drinking too much water as part of a radio station’s Nintendo Wii giveaway

The easiest way to spot a tourist in any country is that they don't know the local way of doing things. We do get tourists from the U.S. going to other parts of the U.S.. I'm sure that you probably don't get that in Europe, a tourist in their own country.

American comfort with public transportation directly relates in my experience to how much they use it at home. The US is huge and car-dependent largely because of it. People who live in urban areas with good trains and buses will use them. California and Texas for example, generally not so much.

Server came into wide use when words were being changed/used to express gender equality. For ex, the acting industry here began using actor for all genders. So server was originally (and hopefully now) an empowering word.

TBH, Diane, the biggest reason why a lot of Americans, myself included, don't like using public transportation is because it tends to take forever and a day to get to your destination, whereas getting to your destination while driving a car would take far less time

Who knew you can overhydrate? I knew that, but I'm an anatomy professor. 😂

Americans use the term "server" because it is a gender-neutral term, unlike "waiter" or "waitress".
