Dirty fuel injectors? Dont buy new ones- do this instead!

I usually aim the injector at my face so I can see into the barrel THEN hit the cleaner. I must admit, it makes me a little nervous doing this so I simultaneously smoke to calm my nerves.

I did this to several sets of injectors and picked up fuel milage. Just a tip but I also flush them backwards (reverse flow). The trash gets stuck inside them usually on the screen. Some of the trash won't just push through so if you back flow them the trash comes out the way it came in instead of trying to push through the screen and other small passages. This actually works amazing.

Tell blake to put a in-line filter before injectors and replace it every oil change if his tank is that dirty.

I wish I would have seen your video some years ago as I would not have gotten rid of my at-that-time older vehicle. I got an error message and a rough running engine only to find out I had to replace a bad injector. Then after a few months would get another error message to replace another one. And then another would go bad. I considered my old vehicle to no longer be dependable and traded it away. After seeing your video, I realize now that your technique would have easily solved my V-8 car trouble. Thanks again and I look forward to more of your videos.

Yep, I like that trick better than 6 sections of ever smaller hose and heat shrink. Might not be as great for the solenoid having it connected to the battery for as long as he did, but if you got the can of carb clean all ready to go on the injector with your wires all connected except for your ground, then you could hit the ground, punch the carb clean and watch the injector pattern, and release. Just make sure you're not aiming the exit spray from the injector at your engine or where your electrical connections might be or you could start a fire.

I have cleaned mine this way. the only time this doesn't work, is if the injector doesn't click. If it doesn't click, then the injector is dead. happened to me on my ford truck. I took it off, and went to clean it, and it would click, so fluid doesn't come out the bottom. brake cleaner works really good for this cleaning process. I was able to clean a set of injectors this way, on a an older volvo i had.

Awesome video. You get down to the base of things with this and just goes to show you you don't really need a bunch of special tools to get the job done. I mean maybe there's more professional ways to do it maybe there's faster ways but I actually I'm thinking maybe there's not that much faster way. This answered 95 percent of my question.

probably needs to drop the fuel tank, clean it out, change the fuel filters, and then clean the injectors last..

You don't need fuel injectors but you need HBNR O-ring gaskets.

Just a note, keeping electrical current on the injector for that long is NOT good on them. Injectors are basically a solenoid and are meant to have short bursts of power to operate them. Holding electrical current to them can easily burn out the solenoid inside them.

Cleaning then this way is actually fine, but when applying the pressure of the cleaner, tap the wire onto the connection repeatedly on and off. No more than like 3-5 seconds on at one time. You can also back flush them.

Yes there is an internal filter on one end of the injector and I always suggest back flushing them first to clear it out. Debris is hardly what cloggs these injectors. It's built up corrosion on the pintle spray holes that needs cleaned out.

Awesome road side video though lol. Hopefully that injector didn't burn out shortly after being reinstalled.

Flush em in reverse for a better cleaning. Also get two female spade connectors so you dont run the risk of shorting those two wires going directly to the battery. 1000 amps will make those wires glow red hot in a split second!
