In 2004 I had a 98 WRX. The fuel pump had died according to the Subaru mechanic the entire unit would be a $700 repair. I asked him where the fuel pump is located, he told me under the rear seat. I bought a fuel pump and changed it myself for a grand total of $70.

I have an 05 V8 4runner that was randomly hesitating a few years ago because the fuel pump was going bad. I got the exact entire assembly out of a much newer, low mileage, totaled Lexus GX for $80, cut open my own access under the back seat so I didn't have to drop the tank & it's been running perfectly ever since.

After a few seconds of slow acceleration, it works its way out and picks up speed but now I know what needs replaced. Lord knows I’m not trying to be stranded!! Again, THANK YOU!! Happy Holidays!

yeah when your cranking and cranking, it wont start immediately, because the gas in the line dripped back into the gas tank, bad rubber seal, the gas has to travel back up to the motor so you get that couple seconds, maybe five seconds. it can still run forever just wont start for a couple seconds of cranking.
had one was just super annoying.

I thought I had that problem with my Yaris.Same cranking not starting but I check the relay first before going in the tank. Luckily it was only the relaythat was bad

Thanks this helps me so much I stoped driving and started walking 😂 when I started experiencing low acceleration when I step on the fuel pedal and mechanics couldn’t diagnose the problem another symptom if you realise your fuel gauge indicating to high especially when you have low fuel level just know the dude is about to give way just buy one and dump it somewhere in your car just incase 😅

Fill up your car before it gets below a quarter tank. Makes pump last longer.

Had an 87 fiero gt fast back, make wirring noises. It would backfire etc. Replaced pump and it ran great. Fuelt is below the shifter.

When I worked at AutoZone I bought their fuel pump for my 90 Lumina 3.1 it went out every other day I finally went and got one from Advance Auto Parts and it's still in the car with almost $80, 000 Mi on it
