Social Media has been a part of my daily routine for 10 years of my life, but earlier last year i've decided to dial it down a bit and quit instagram, one of most used platforms. Fast forward to the end of last year I permanently deleted twitter, my favourite and most beloved social media account. When i realized how much weight that had lifted off my shoulders I decided to go full force and completely off all of my accounts. Its a decision that to this day i do not regret:) !!

hopefully this video helps you out a but if you're in the same boat, it'll be tough, but its definitely worth it!

hi everyone hope your weeks been going well<3 vids a little longer this week and i dive in a little bit about my self confidence surrounding social media. I know there are lots of ups to these platforms, but personally for me it was never positive:( but all in all, peoples relationships w/ social media depend on how they use it<3 if it works for you thats all that matters!

social media for me has trashed my mental health. what i thought was “confidence” was posting every selfie where i thought i looked perfect and working out just so i could show my body off to everyone else. looking back, i wasn’t confident. a confident person doesn’t need others to validate her every photo. this may not apply to everyone, but i truly feel the more people feel the need to post to show off their physique, their money, their good news— the more insecure they probably are.

you’re better off without it.

I felt happier when I had no social media. I felt more peaceful. But being on social media and being a young adult, I’m constantly seeing people having fun, going on holidays, getting into relationships, getting engaged and then I feel like well what am I doing with my life. Social media causes a lot of comparison

Deleting social media makes you very wholesome tbh

Social media has turned humanity into a bunch of cowards. People say things on Twitter or Tik Tok that they wouldn't dare say out loud in public or to someone's face.

For me YouTube is the best form of social media right now. It isn‘t that popular anymore so content creators are serious about it rather then trying to become famous by going viral. That‘s the big issue with Tiktok and Instagram. Everyone is following trends so they are recommended to more people. Youtube became lowkey wholesome and much more inspiring.

Quitting social media is a good way to find out who is a real friend and who isn't

Maybe I’m not an ass, but I get so excited when I meet ppl who don’t use social media cuz it increases the chance of them actually having a personality and having hobbies/passions/ and self-respect/dedication

As a girl you won’t compare yourself with nobody else anymore. It helped me a lot

"you're gonna lose a lot of people"

this is a hard truth to accept, but i think of it as something that needs to happen. i quit social media back in 2018 and haven't used it since, and the only people who i've stayed connected with are my best friend and significant other. and when i say connected, i mean connected on a deeper level that transcends any superficial relationships that i would have attempted to maintain had i kept my social media. i might have lost "friends", but i gained stronger relationships with the people who mean the world to me, and there's nothing better than that.

Disclaimer: If I quit social media, I’d definitely think I’m better than everyone.

I'm military and I got rid of social media right before I left home. Here's what happened since:

1. I don't care about being "popular" anymore. I'm embracing being an introverted loner.

2. I've stopped comparing myself to others.

3. I'm forgetting about the toxic people I've encountered back home.

4. Drama has been significantly reduced.

"I was more focused on what the memory would look like online than what it actually feels like to be there." THIS. This is THE line.

Thanks for sharing your insights!

I deleted social media around like 3 to 4 months ago due to feeling just overwhelmed and constantly comparing myself to what my friends were doing. Despite having followers and talking to people almost every day I still just felt alone. Fast forward 3 to 4 months I’ve seen a great improvement of my mental health I’ve started picking up old hobbies such as chess again, I’ve never been better ! :)

I only do direct calls, texts and FaceTime ever since I quit social media. If somebody is not comfortable with that, it’s their problem :)

i feel like social media was toxic for me, i just finally found it pointless and exhausting seeing other people lives and thoughts. i just kept comparing my life and trying to portray something. it feels good to not lurk and compare anymore
