On July 24th, I quit social media. I wanted to share my experience so far with the hope that anyone who watches this video can benefit like I have.
Here’s the straw that broke the camel’s back:

This was so well done. Thank you! I have a small business and was using it as an excuse to keep social media. But there’s no reason that I can’t make posts / check it on my laptop instead of scrolling my phone. Deleting it right now!

1. Less Stress.
2. More Productive.
3. Better Communication with text and phone calls one on one.
4. More connected with my passions drive and purpose.
5. You missed the real treasure of your life which is your time.

Honestly, I miss old social media. Social media now is just "content". Old social media, like old Facebook for example, used to be a lot more community oriented. I remember having full on group conversations in the comments over there, that would inevitably move over to real life. Interaction was encouraged, not doom scrolling. I remember when social media wasn't this "always online" thing, but something you logged into at the end of the day to shoot the shit with your friends.

I didn't even know this was from a person with less that 1k subscribers made this video. The production quality is insanely good man!

"and I just don't think that anybody when they get to the end of their lives is going to say to themselves 'wow, I really wished I spent more time on social media' ". That's such a great quote. Really puts things into perspective.

I deleted my social media apps. Social media detox has helped me a lot. I realised that nowadays, 'close friends' are mostly virtual friends. When I walked away from Facebook, Instagram and other mainsteam SNS, only one of my so-called friends reached out to me. Nonetheless, I am now at peace. No toxic comparisons, no attention-seeking people, away from toxic Filipino culture. I'm glad I'm doing great in my journey towards digital minimalism.

I quit social media and I started to read a lot instead. My problem is consuming others content too much.

Quit social media in 2017. Never went back....I live a peaceful life! When I hear others complain about fbook this and that [drama] reminds me why I left...no one can find me unless they know me!

I love that there are so many people realizing just how bad social media is and that there are so many people who are like me and want to live a more meaningful life with more real connections with people.

Social media is quite toxic and triggers a lot of unhappiness and jealousy towards others. I have essentially been using it the same way as you have for several years and I agree, I have also been so much more productive in the last years

Very rarely, almost never, have people who called themselves my friends ever bothered to call me on the phone and make me feel included, so i realized i never had many if any friends to begin with for most of my life. Now, I don’t consider someone a friend if we don’t have each other’s phone numbers and check on each other every now and then.

I quit social media six years ago and I haven't looked back. I used to waste so much time on FB in particular. Now I feel my life is simpler, less cluttered and quieter. It ended up spurring my husband to also quit (he in fact used to work for FB) and change careers to become a teacher. We ended up buying a house together two years ago which required a lot of focus and effort which wouldn't have been possible if had been still addicted to social media.

I’m so addicted to social media, especially instagram that last week I decided to deactivate my accounts, remove apps and do the 3 months detox. I’m less stressed but I’m not always feeling mentally good because of constant lack of dopamine. Social media it’s like a drug. But…I started read a lot again. Before reading 1 or 2 pages a day was a hugh effort because I was focused on ig. Now, I’m able to read 50 pages a day to do something with my free time. I come back to meditation as well. I know that few months of social media will bring me benefits. And yes, I have a hugh FOMO.

I was 12 when I quit social media, I'm 16 now. I can say even as a young man, it helps you be more productive and it really gets you to do things and fill your time. it definitely helps with connections with people too. I appreciate you making this video and letting people see what you can do with your life when there's no more distractions. 🤝

I deleted Instagram, tiktok and Facebook the other day because I realised I couldn’t stay off of social media. I kept Snapchat because most of my friends have androids so I can’t talk to them if I deleted that but I feel fresher. I would wake up and scroll for and it felt dull and monotonous
I strive to read more books, journal, walk, do literally anything else
Thank you. This video made me think

Thanks this gave me the push I needed. Deleted 3 social media apps off my phone and until I get my laptop repaired im just keeping 2 apps that are my least addictive and that I use to post my art. Social media is utterly depressing.

This video is so well done: the shots between paragraphs and kids playing videos are great, and of course the meaning. Beautiful!

This video had so much more passion than most of those "motivational videos" here on YouTube!
Well done!
