use toilet paper - roll out a 4 ft strip on the kitchen table - sprinkle seed evenly - roll out another 4 ft strip and lay it on top of the seeded strip - spray with water lightly - next gently carry strip to the garden bed and lay it out and cover with soil.

I just juice a dozen thin carrots, a red apple, a green apple, a 2" piece of ginger with a lime. That was good.

Way too hot here in zone 10b to plant carrots! I learned my lesson from last year. I planted carrots three different times before they actually came up. I will plant carrots in November. Lol

We put newspapers over our carrot rows and kept them wet and they germinated after three days!

Funny, I planted my carrots seeds this afternoon/ early evening. I also put in a few celery seeds, I had good success direct sowing my celery last fall.

Enjoyed the video, we're in Panama City, Florida zone 9a. The last two years October 15th has been my go-to plant date, but the weather has been slightly cooler than usual especially at night so I may get them planted next week. We also use raised beds for carrot growing. You mentioned "purple haze", planted that variety for the first time last year and everyone we shared with said it was sweeter than the "Ruby Pak" and "Yellow Bunch" varieties we grew too. My wife and I agreed, so this year we're planting Ruby Pak, Gold Nugget, and an entire 4 x6 bed of just Purple Haze. Happy gardening and have a blessed day!

Mine are up and going strong! I placed pieces of cardboard on mine and kept it wet. Checked everyday until germination! I took cardboard off when seeds germinated!

Glad to see you guys clearly surviving Helene. Thanks for the video Travis. Love me some carrots.
Edit: have a question. What are your thoughts/experience of pelleted carrot seed versus the tiny conventional seed? I bought a bunch of pelleted seed just for experimentation but would likely benefit from hearing the experience of others, including yours. Thanks in advance.

The best way I've found to deal with planting carrots is fill a furrow with a mixture of compost and pure clay cat litter and scatter the seeds on top. Then set up a sprinkler on a timer and water ten minutes of ever hour during the day until they are up and have put on a leaf. I'm on sand though. It might be excessive watering for someone with actual dirt to plant in. Also, no point in clay cat litter if your soil has any clay in it.

I was heavy handed last year as well. Scattered the seeds too thick. Extra thick. Ended up with tons of very small carrots. Delicious but hard to deal with cleaning and putting up to save.

I soak my carrot seeds overnight then mix them in a slurry of water and cornstarch (cooked then cooled before mixing in the seeds). Then I use a squeeze bottle to plant lines of seeds. The seeds separate out perfectly and the slurry keeps the seeds moist for germination.

Here at lake texoma, Oklahoma, zone 7b/8a, the temps are still edging close to 100 during the day (7 out of 10 days are 95+) lost all my brassicas except the cauliflower, and they are still tiny .. I did plant my carrots about 5 days ago. I am so hoping they do good

Today we hit 101.x. It may be the last day of the year above 100F.

Still too warm in Central Texas (9A) for carrots … daytime highs in the low to middle 90’s. Have broccoli and cabbage transplants I’m nursing with shade cloth in the middle of the day.

I planted my carrots and then the chickens decided to use that space as a dust bath!

I bet I have a rabbit in my have a heart trap this morning. They can't resist a few apple slices. Saw some damage yesterday in the cabbage broccoli patch. Carrots are up although Mokum came up poorly. The other varieties look good though.

I watched several videos (including yours) before I planted my carrots and then just ignored most of what they said...I planted when it was supposed to rain for several days and then, of course, we got very little rain. I just sprinkled a mix of seeds in half a bed (not too thick- didn't even cover them) and then watered every day for several days. They came up in five days and seem to be doing well. Beginners luck?
