PART 2 of Essential Things to know before travelling to Japan🇯🇵 especially if this is your first time visiting!

1) Suica or Pasmo Card
As soon as you landed in Japan, you need to get this rechargeable card called Suica or Pasmo Card. You can get this from train station at the airport and load them up with cash or credit or debit card💳 You can use as transportation card, pay for taxi, pay for vending machines and we found there are so many shops, cafes and restaurants accept this now💯 What to do after you left Japan? Well just keep it and once you are back, just load them up again, no expiry date✌🏻

2) Don’t eat and drink while walking in Japan🙅🏻
There seems no hard rule but you will get scolded especially by locals and food vendor, so don’t do it. If you buy any street food, eat it straight away in the shop and you can throw away your rubbish too. Otherwise, it’s so difficult to find rubbish bin🗑️ and don’t ever litter or you’ll get fine or again frowned upon🚮

3) If you are a smoker, don’t smoke on the streets, not even vape! There are designated smoking places, both indoor and outdoor and that’s where you can smoke or vape🚬Follow the rules and be respectful

Minor detail to note. Pasmo and Suica are only distributed in the Tokyo area. If you decide to take a connection flight to another part of Japan your IC card would have a different name, like Icoca and Sugoca. All of these cards can be used throughout Japan universally, so don't worry if your card doesn't say Suica or Pasmo.

Still can't get over how clean the streets are in Japan.

Felt bad that I was leaving Japan with money on my suica but then I realized I could still use it for food. Had my last ramen there at the airport 😂

I'm Japanese. we don't care about people eating or drinking while walking.but on the train or other public transportation, it's not good. In japan we have the place called"Tabe-Aruki spot"which means people buy some food or drink and eat or drink while walking. That's really
pls don't care about a lot of rules in Japan. we can understand u are foreigner. when u are not sure about these rules in Japan, speak ur mother language. then we can understand.Just respect to other people, i think it's enough. Any way i'm really looking forward to seeing you in shibuya!!!!And i'm learning English now so if my comments don't make sense, i'll be sad😢😢

You can't find trash cans on the streets of Japan because of Tokyo subway sarin attack on March 20, 1995. Terrorists hid sarin in trash cans.

Also always have cash on hand. Don't expect all places there to accept money digitally.

I think the lack of trash cans had something to do with some domestic terrorism by a cult a long time ago not sure but it’s no big deal every convince store has trash cans you can use and one is rarely far away

If you have an iPhone, you can add Suica in less than a minute in Wallets. Saves you having to carry around another card you can lose,  makes it so you can charge it from apple pay anywhere, and saves you the queue time at the airport

Everyone carries their own trash bag to put stuff in, same thing applies to Taiwan. That’s why they’re so clean.😂❤
