This is the most life realistic moment -- you're waiting and yearning for something so much, but when it comes it might mean nothing to you.

The most important line in this dialogue is "You're the youngest yet...I don't know where you found the time". He found the time by sacrificing everything else in his life. Friends, family, all human connections and experiences lost to time. Decades wasted for a meaningless achievement....and in the end nobody by his side to celebrate with him.

Sam Elliott was a supremely good casting choice for the senior pilot role. Man, this was a grossly underrated movie.

This scene breaks my heart, he looks like he feels so empty inside.

I’ve traveled a ton for my job.

The alienation of being in the air so much is real

Sam Elliot is a god-send. Makes every scene special in any movie.

I use to travel massively on business and this movie hit home in an almost freakish way. It still haunts me when I see it. Flew nearly 2 million miles and I was GS with UA for years. But it is the "road" that eventually will wear on you. While I had a "home" I lived in hotels basically. When he says he is "from here" I could understand that all too well.

In the end of his great achievement, he realizes how little it means to him and there are no words he can think of to say.

0:14 "Oh no." That reaction is great. He did not expect it. Overall, this scene is amazing!

I'm from here. Completely devastating line. Makes me cry...

“You’re the youngest yet to reach 10 million. I don’t know where you found the time”

Something so brutal about the way Sam Elliott delivers this, indicating he thinks he should have done something else, more worthwhile.

I fly a lot; just about to hit 1 million on Alaska. His response “I’m from here” really hits home.

This is a really good movie in an understated way, especially for when it came out (during the financial crisis) and people were losing their jobs right and left. Be curious to see how things go this time around.

Sam Elliott is an absolute master at acting but not saying much. He's like an introvert who doesn't say much but when he does, everyone listens. I connect well with people like that.

We need a Clooney/Elliott movie. Both of them as the main characters. Lots of dialogue and meaningful action.

I think if ever were going to meet God, I would think that it would Sam Elliot's voice and manner.

They say only few words but you feel like it was long deep conversation because in that few words they say so much .. powerful underrated scene

Two great deep movie voices that complement each other.

I love George Clooney movies. Dude is a great actor. Sam Elliott is awesome too.

To put into perspective a full time captain, flies about 370, 000 to 432, 000 miles a year. Basically means a pilot would have to be full time for roughly 25 years to reach 10 million miles. Now imagine a customer doing that. But keep in mind a pilot only clocks in 70-80 hours a month, so it's very realistic someone can do it in half that amount of time.
