7 Daily Habits for a Clutter-Free Home: Declutter for Good

In addition to a significant declutter purge that cleared the space initially, our family has developed simple habits to keep our home clutterfree.

They are not obtrusive or burdensome in any way. Just the opposite. Practiced daily, they take only a few minutes to complete. But together, they leave our home in a perpetual state of clutterfree (or at least, close to it).

I love the tip about cleening up in the evening before bedtime. It is so relaxing waking up to a clean house and enjoy breakfast.

Thanks, Josh, for getting to the point. I've watched and read you for several yrs.now. One tip I have: in the trunk of my car i keep a large plastic bin. When I find a donation item in my house, I immediately take it to the car and put it in the bin. Out of sight, out of mind. When the bin is full, I take it to my fav donation place.

Great tips Joshua. I have a rule that if one thing comes in my apartment, 2 things go out. I just replace things that need to be replaced and don't introduce a lot of new stuff.

We already did all of these and still our house was messy. The last couple of weeks we've gotten rid of so much clutter. It finally clicked for me that that was the solution. And it worked! It feels so good and I know I will have zero regrets about letting stuff go because the benefits are amazing!

Don't go empty handed, is one really helpful thing I heard somewhere. Every time I leave a space I take things with me and put them where they belong. It helps our home to not be messy.

Love these ideas! Especially the dishes. My hubby, I and our 3 young sons are closing on our 4300sq ft house in 33days and moving into an 800sq ft house. I have never been so excited in my life! Eliminating all the noise for simplicity and debt free living!

No dishwasher, so love the dishes tip!

Thank you for all you do. We’ve been following you for years and you’ve been a huge influence on this journey of ours.. along with Dave Ramsey!

Thank you again

I love your final point about decluttering a few things at a time whenever you see a cluttered space. I have decluttered a lot, but there are still nooks and crannies to be minimized. I try to do a little every day. Declutter my pantry shelf while I'm putting away groceries. Sort and minimize my socks after putting away laundry. It adds up.

I really love your style of videos. You keep it short, straight forward, and you've had some more original ideas and messages then others I've watched. I wish you would post more but I suppose we could argue quality over quantity. Thank you for all you've inspired in me. I just subscribed so I can see your newest video the moment it comes up (hopefully soon!!!)
Much love all the way from Canada :)

I’ve thrown out so much junk lately.
Two loads to Goodwill. Old curtains and so on burned in the fire pit.
Threw out boxes of tarot cards, old books, jewellery and the list goes on. All junk I didn’t need.
I feel much better being a minimalist. My mind abs soul can breathe without clutter. ❤️ My motto is: why be so materialistic? It’s not like you can take it with you when you die.

Amazingly, I already do most of these on the daily bases. The two I need to do better are sort the mail instantly and doing the jobs that take two minute or less. Thanks for this reminder.

All good ideas except the one about taking appliances off the kitchen counter. We can't do that in our tiny kitchen. We hardly have space for pots and pans. Plus, I like the tea kettle as a decorative element. Otherwise, very good advice.

I also clean house before I leave it. You always come home to a clean house. Zen achieved. 😏
I taught my children to leave a room like they found it.

I've seen so many videos on decluttering but your videos are the only ones that helped me in the process of decluttering. Thank you

I like to use a clothes basket. I fill it and empty it - picking things up while placing things where they belong - all in one or two rounds around the house.
