I have tried most diets over the years and always put it back and usually more. A few months ago I decided I needed to find a more sustainable way to lose weight but also get healthy as I approach 40. The biggest shift for me was to not say “I can’t have it as I’m on a diet”, or having something bad then saying oh “I’ll start again tomorrow”. It’s not a diet, it’s my new way of eating. I started off slow just increasing protein and veg with my meals, and really focusing on having a healthy breakfast. This naturally has made me stop snacking so much and eating so many carbs. I aim for 90% of my foods to be whole foods. I probably eat more now than I did before and the weight is falling off me. I measure myself once a month and don’t weigh.

Hi Dani, My name is Lisa. I'm 66 years old and weigh 270 lbs. I just had an aha moment watching this video. Lately, I've been so negligent about self care. Perhaps this is TMI, but I wait more than a week to take a shower and wash my hair, I go for a week or more without brushing my teeth or washing my face. I even go days without taking my medicine. I've never felt love for myself, and certainly am ashamed and embarrassed about how I look and present myself. My aha moment was when you talked about a person's weight being a messenger. The message my weight is screaming at me is, "Please be good to yourself!!!! Take care of your body and your face and your hair and your teeth!!!" You've given me so much to think about. I was never sure how to learn to love myself, but now I have some ideas (shower more often, wash my hair, brush my teeth, etc.). Thank you, Dani! I'm truly grateful for your videos.

This is a really important message. I have always thought that really focusing on where I want to be would help me get there. But for this, it doesn’t work that well. Focusing on taking the best care of myself here and now, and acting lovingly towards my body today, definitely shifts the energy to a more positive outlook. Good message, and very actionable.

This makes so much more sense to me, have struggled with my weight all through my adult life, have decided that I need to lose weight but get fed up of being told what to eat, I am looking through your recipes and going to get my mindset right, live in UK but find that diets don’t teach you properly, that’s why I tend to put weight back on as they don’t focus on your mind.😊

I’ve been pretty sick this year physically, which has contributed to my mental health declining as well. Which then spirals into the physical. And on and on. I’ve been a subscriber to your other channel for years and just found my way here. Please excuse me if I cry a little.

Great video, Dani! I totally agree with everything you said - as I’m fond of saying “it all sounds so simple!” 😉 Changing the thoughts in our head is hard work! Not impossible, but definitely not a walk in the park. I get up every single day with resolve to do just that. When I have a day where I’ve worked the process, it is amazing how much better I feel and it does and can build on itself. I could talk about this stuff all day long! Thanks for the video!
