In this episode, Bart Ehrman and Megan Lewis look at women in the New Testament and the early church and answer questions like:
- What restrictions were place on women in the early church based on their sex?
- Does the New Testament give an accurate depiction of how women actually lived and functioned during the early church?
- And should the New Testament be used as a guide for women's participation in modern churches?

For once I think Bart should take an interview of Megan, should be very interesting. I love this episode, it cleared out some of my misconceptions about Paul.

Having James Tabor on introduced me to him. I've watched several of his videos now. Absolutely fascinating. I'm sorry you had a few hard weeks, Dr. Ehrman. Thank you both for introducing me to James Tabor.

Megan is an awesome interviewer. It goes without saying Dr. Ehrman is a fantabulous person to interview!

As a feminist critic of Christianity, I think it's important to be honest about the way women were empowered and then subsequently silenced as Christianity became a location of social, political and economic power.

To the sound engineer of this great podcast: Megan's mic volume is way over Bart's, and it's kinda painful to focus on the main topic. I love this podcast series though.. Amazing work done by Megan and Bart!!

Great video but Megan seems to be about 2 levels louder than Bart. Maybe turn Bart's volume up a couple levels??

A friend of mine studied at a Baptist Bible college years ago. He had a great mnemonic for remembering that it was Eutychus who fell out of a window during Paul’s sermon. You’d a cussed too, if you fell out a window.

Interesting to hear this in contrast to Mike Winger's recent series on Women and the Bible

This has been wonderfully refreshing to watch and serves as a fascinating insight into Paul's actual teachings. It's fascinating to discover how the verses which refer to women's position in church and society as a whole were most probably not written by Paul himself! This puts paid to those 'Christian' males who hold so dearly on these teachings to undermine women and keep them in their 'place' . Thank you so much and I will be watching your YouTube channel for now on 🙂 ...

This is a great video. More work needs to be done on women in religion in general and this is just a part of that discussion. Thanks again Bart and Megan!
