Finally feel steady on your feet when walking again! 🚶🏼‍♀️

If you feel unstable when walking or lack confidence in your abilities- you need this one simple trick to help you. There is one mistake that I see many people making who aren't aware they are even doing it. The problem is, simply standing on one leg isn't enough to improve balance when walking. The solution? To add an additional challenge to your balance exercises such as adding arm movements, closing your eyes and/or completing exercises on an uneven surface.

Balance is incredibly important when walking and if you feel you have no balance while walking, it can be extremely limiting to your daily life. Now, it's time to take the tools from this video and start improving your balance today. Join Dr. Alyssa Kuhn, physical therapist and osteoarthritis specialist as she shows you examples of exercises you can improve your balance with.

I first noticed this lack of balance when showering - when you're almost certain to close your eyes - and lose your balance.
Everything you say makes sense. Thank you for the video; excellent information.

Because of a tragic all on frozen concrete in 2003, I started using a walker, then 2 canes. But I have completely lost my equilibrium or blance.I feel stupid being days away from 76 and having had such an active walking & moving life. I hope to use your program and any others because I feel like a little child, first learning to walk alone without mommy's hand. Thank you! I have an active mind and a body that has danced, climbed on things, lifted and walked at the same time, and used to swim every day.

Your video on balance exercises at home is excellent. Our clinic performs data metrics on balance especially for seniors, and your absolutely right to add more arm movements in the corner to allow the brain to get more comfortable with changes in positions, therefore improving your response time if you feel unstable. Thank you for these amazing tips for your viewers.

I am pleased you don’t refer to yourself as Dr. Alyssa as another DPT does on You Tube. I also prefer your shorts and tees to her skimpy clothing. Thank you for your genuineness.

If you wear bifocals when walking, try taking them off or just use your mono vision glasses to see if it helps. I often trip or misstep when wearing bifocals because your feet and curbs etc. are fuzzy because you are looking straight ahead through the top of your glasses and literally can't clearly see where you are walking.

I’ve had balance issues ever since I broke my femur 32 years ago. You have at least two ideas here that I’ve never seen before. Like using the corner and moving. Great info!

As well as standing on one leg and moving your arms as if walking, one can swing the elevated foot back and forth as if walking at the same time as moving the arms.
