I have developed terrible neuropathy during my treatment for Hodgkins Lymphoma. Climbing stairs has become a tremendous challenge despite having been an active 47-year-old prior to this. I noticed a few months into treatment that my feet were not lifting as much as I walked and that I would trip over cracks in the sidewalk. I have been so frustrated that I have developed drop foot as well. Today I received trekking poles that I ordered to give me more support so I can walk with some more confidence. My husband found your video on trekking poles to teach me how to use them. I have now gone down the rabbit hole of watching many of your videos. Thank you for sharing this information on YouTube to help others like me.

I was involved in a severe car accident in 1993. I had a TBI on the left side of my body. This affected my right side. I had drop foot because of it. I went through therapy and got better at walking. As the years passed I struggled with depression and weight gain. This caused me to go back to old habits. I have lost 50 pounds leaving me 25 more to reach my goal. I have been falling and tripping so I am going to use your advice to help me stop falling. Thanks.

Wish I had seen this last month. I had a bad fall last week. 100% because of the way I walk. I also now know why I have an ache at the front of my right leg.
I do love you guys but I am 65 and everytime I watch you I have to add another few exercises to my day😂

Thanks for this video. I was born with a disability that causes drop foot & can tell you that these exercises really do help keep me from falling.😊

Thanks, guys! I needed this! I’m 66 and for many years the joke about me is that I can trip on air. I did a face- first splat on smooth tile floor (no injuries other than my dignity) and FINALLY realized that I have a little bit of foot drop in my left foot! Now, when I walk, I recite “heel, toe, heel, toe”to myself.

About 90% of my geriatric patients have a difficult time with a heel to toe gait pattern . This is an excellent exercise to help prevent a shuffling, flat-foot gait pattern that almost always leads to falls.

Wow: You guys nailed it! Years before recent hip
replacement, I’ve been asking physical therapists to help me understand and correct my perception of uneven gait. Since surgery and walking for exercise I have realized that the toes of foot opposite surgical leg are profoundly weak and cannot bear my weight as I step forward with it. This week I brought this fact to PT and was given standing heel raises. I’m sure this will help too, but am amazed and thankful that you have presented this video. I’m on it❣️

I had a TKR in January and prior to that had been on crutches. I have not heard of this but took a nasty fall a couple of days ago. Face planted on the sidewalk. I will start doing these as I have noticed that I felt like I was stumbling over my own feet. I’m very sure this is why I fell. Thank you for sharing this information with all of us! AMEN for special people like you! You really do care about your patients! Thanks!

This is fantastic advice for seniors to improve walking and minimize falls. 3 - 4 days a week I would walk at least 2 miles in my neighborhood for exercise. One afternoon I tripped while power walking and was injured. Luckily I did not break any bones, but the fear of another dalk kept me from walking for exercise again. I became acutely aware of my walking and determined I was not picking up my right foot enough and causing me to trip. I will do the recommended exercise and post again after a month to report if my walking has improved. Great video.

This exercise against the wall also feels great in my low back!

Another tip I would give is to walk slower. The times I fell, I was rushing to get somewhere and didn’t pay attention to what was in front of me. I stepped in a hole at the park. I tripped over a wagon handle when doing home repairs. I rushed and fell when the dog wrapped her leash around my legs. Look down.

I had muscle weakness /drop foot due to trapped nerves, spinal issues & I kept falling/tripping over. I was given loads of PT exercises but not this one. I’ll try this thanks guys!🙌🏼

I have foot drop as the result of a hip replacement. The good news is that it's coming back so these exercises are just what I have been looking for to get my strenght back. Thank you!

This exercise is better than one. They taught me in the hospital. It’s much more effective by a longshot.
