IFS Therapy: An Overview

There are many different schools of thought in psychology and plenty of different approaches to helping our minds. Internal Family Systems therapy is one approach to therapy that was fully developed in the nineties. Decades later, it is still helping people to learn who they are and how that information can be used to help them grow and live a more positive life.

I can totally relate to what you are saying. I have tons of parts. The ones that I know of seam to want me to know of them. There are some that are clearly being protected and exiled.

I follow a trailhead first thing in the morning. It completely changed my internal clima. My decade long depression just evaporated Initially it was fast, like a lot of my parts where waiting to heal, release and mature into useful and alive energies in my psychological structure. Im still constantly surprised and supported by them. I had a difficult period when working with exiled protectors, and it was caused by me not respecting the wish to postpone the comunication made by another protector. So always respect your whole system, everyone is important! Inner harmony is the way of IFS.


Great video by the way, the second exercise was where i started from but the mapping process always felt a bit off for me. IFS can come easily for some people and other will need to work with a therapist (dont esitate to do that, making contact with one can be one of the best decision of your life) but in anycase keeping the adventure on for a year or two may be necessary to integrate this new way of being, this new way of interaction to your inner life. Have fun! respect, opennes, compassion are wholesome and badass qualities to cultivate.
