Having a bit of a vulnerability hangover after posting this one! 🫣 In This episode on the Your Life in Process podcast, Dr. Richard Schwartz tries out Internal Family systems on me!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
He guides me in dialoguing with two very old parts: A restrictive part that keeps me rigid and controlling and a binging part that tends to be impulsive and disorganized.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Although these parts don’t show up in my relationship with food anymore, they show up in other areas of my life (ugh...the binger part has over-scheduled me again!).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You also likely have parts of yourself you don’t like. An anxious part, a perfectionistic part, a procrastinator part, a self-critical part. Through dialogue with these parts and approaching them with compassion, you can learn why they are here and what they need from you. You can even learn to use them as strengths!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Take a listen to Dr. Richard Schwartz in action in this week’s real play. Link in bio.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Let me know how it lands in the comments.
