For those who wonder why this happens scientists call this an optical illusion (optical means related to the eye) and it can mess up your brain. This mask illusion works because the mask is hollow and shadows are equal and on the same positions. This causes the brain to think that the mask is oscillating instead of moving in one direction. Most people can see it moving in one direction after staring and concentrating at it for a while, but some may be stuck in this illusion for eternity. Hope this helped you guys! :)
