My family is half Occitan but we no longer speak Occitan.
My last relative who spoke Occitan died in 1882 and from then no one from my family has ever spoken Occitan.

Greetings from Piedmont (Italy)! In our valleys Occitan is spoken, the ancient traditions, music, food, language and villages are still alive and it's nice that they are shared worldwide by other people too.
P.S: Ich war ein paar Mal in Pommern, schönes Land!

Being a native Spanish speaker, I can't help but wonder at the Catalan reminicenses of this beautiful language. Romance languages are a continuum that should be cherished in all of its varieties ❤

In Romanian: "Am vazut lupul"
I could understand most of the song through my mother tongue... Romance languages are truly fascinating!

In Midi-Pyrénées South France, children still learn writing, singing and play in Occitan at school.

It's amazing how clear sounding this copy is from the middle ages.

It's a shame Occitan seems to be a dying language

Occitan & its sister languages Catalan-Baleareic-Valencian & Provincial are beautiful please dont let them die. I say this as a native speaker or Neapolitan-Molisan & Sicilian-Calabrese-Salentino. They have been banned, shunned & frowned upon in italy like our culture for 170 years now, since the marxist revolutions, the "european springs." We even speak Catalan (Occitan) in Sardinia, in Naples & Palermo & Provencal in Calabria & Basilicata.

Nos i fotèm tot pel cuol

A wolf, a fox, and a rabbit in a bar, this song comes on, they dance. People start singing it, "Ai vist lo loop" they shout, the wolf feels proud.

Romanian Translation :

Am văzut lupul, am văzut vulpea, am văzut iepurele
Am văzut lupul, vulpea dansând
Am văzut lupul, am văzut vulpea, am văzut iepurele
Am văzut lupul, vulpea dansând

Toţi trei făceau cercuri în jurul copacului
Făceau cercuri în jurul tufişului înflorind
Toţi trei făceau cercuri în jurul copacului
Făceau cercuri în jurul tufişului înflorind

Aici noi sclavim tot anul
Pentru a caştiga câţiva banuţi
Aici noi sclavim tot anul
Pentru a caştiga câţiva banuţi

Şi doar într-o lună
Am văzut lupul, vulpea, iepurele
Nu a mai rămas nimic
Am văzut lupul, vulpea, iepurele

Am văzut lupul, am văzut vulpea, am văzut iepurele
Am văzut lupul, vulpea dansând
Am văzut lupul, am văzut vulpea, am văzut iepurele
Am văzut lupul, vulpea dansând

Toţi trei făceau cercuri în jurul copacului
Făceau cercuri în jurul tufişului înflorind
Toţi trei făceau cercuri în jurul copacului
Făceau cercuri în jurul tufişului înflorind

It's not that hard to figure out

Arany Zoltan is usually cool with people stealing his music, you should credit him though. He is a Hungarian musician who plays every instrument (yeah every instrument) and sings in this video. The official upload is on his channel. He is a modern troubadour, and his mother tongue isn't even Occitan.
