🔎What’s the difference between Tor and VPN?

🕵️‍♀️ While both of them are great privacy tools which encrypt your connection and grant you a new identity, the biggest difference is randomness

🧅 On Tor, you randomly connect to other nodes from all around the world:

1️⃣a guard which knows your IP address but nothing else about your identity
2️⃣a few relays that know nothing about your IP and what you’re trying to access
3️⃣ an exit node which knows what you’re trying to access and becomes your identity in relation to the receiver of your data packets

🤫 If you’re using a VPN, the choice of servers is arbitrary and limited by the service provider’s offering – so you are the one who chooses to which server you’re connecting to get a new identity on the web.
