I was suffering with excessive dry skin skin, rashes, hair loss, major depression, acne for years before I found out I was severely deficient in vitamin D and iron. My symptoms have gotten a lot better since incorporating vitamin D supplements. I would love to see more videos about vitamin/nutrient deficiencies in skin health! I’ve found many doctors don’t test for them or consider them as possible culprits of health issues

I complained to my doctor for over a year about issues with my skin, hair, mood, fatigue, etc. The doctor tried to put me on Prozac. I mentioned my symptoms to a specialist I see at a regular follow up, and he ordered a few tests, including vitamin D. My vitamin D level was 8. I'm now on a supplement and hoping to feel better soon.

In 2019 my vitamin D level was 12. 20 is the average. I was the sickest I have ever been in my life and was so miserable. My bones ached, I caught the flu and had it for over a month, my lungs were on fire, my hair was falling out. I was depressed to the point where I contemplated suicide. I was hospitalized and placed on antidepressants. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone! I take daily vitamin d pills now after that nightmare.

This channel is solid!! The information contained here is invaluable. The doctor is a student of knowledge and it shows. I'm very impressed by the variety and quality of content, far beyond skin care. Thank you

I was diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency. At the end of summer in August in Michigan, at the height of my activity in the sun, I was extremely deficient. Once I was taking the prescribed dose my PCP prescribed as 1 x a week Vit D after a month, I noticed I no longer had heart palpitations and an irregular heartbeat. I didn’t even know that had been a symptom of Vit D insufficiency.

I only went vitamin D testing a few times, because I felt not good at all - I was always tired, exhausted and sad…
Did not really move in days, or shower or brush my hair or anything.
I had a severe vitamin D deficiency and as it got treated I started to feel better again 😊

I had brain fog and horrible fatigue.. high inflammation (CPR) for years. After 10 years, they finally diagnosed me with Common variable immunodeficiency and Sjorgrens to name a few, with vit d and b12 deficiency. Take 6000 of D everyday and weekly b12 Injections. Use to have thick curly hair that came out by the handfuls, and my oily skin is now so dry. I've been miserable for years, I wish they'd have done those tests a long time ago.

This is one of my favorite videos. Thank you the no bs, science backed ( or and understanding where the studies are lacking) review of this topic. Your lighter videos are fun, but the more serious ones are a great, informative balance.

Chilean here. I live in Santiago. Even though we have good intense sun most of the year, we are a gloomy and stark people, most of us don't go out very often during week days except to work. Yet, here the sun comes out at 8 AM for most of the year due to the mountains on the east, and it goes down at 6 PM most of the year too. In summer it goes down at 9 PM. So, most of the year we go out to work while it's still dark outside, stay in our workplace most of the day and travel back home just as the sun is setting.
We are also a very night-inclined people on the weekend. Most Chileans prefer to go out drinking and clubbing with friends on their off-days rather than go to the park or do something healthy in the outdoors. Particularly in Santiago.
Keep that in mind when you interpret that study's results.

Excellent topic! Recently found out I am low in vitamin D despite having started a supplement and needed to up the supplement amount. Also found out my thyroid low - hypothyroidism. It's estimated up to 40% of older women have low thyroid. Now taking a low dose supplement for that as well. Encourage any woman past menopause to have her levels checked as deficiency is very common. eta thyroid medication is Rx and not supplement sorry. My vitamin D level after taking a supplement for a couple of weeks was at the very bottom of the normal range.

I found out I was extremely deficient in vitamin d a couple years ago (9 ng/mL). I started taking a supplement for it, and my acne that I had been battling with for almost 15 years suddenly went away and never came back… even accutane didn’t work for me long term. It also improved my TSH levels, as I have hypothyroidism.

I used to suffer with seboraic dermatitis and occasional eczema flares. My dermatologist and doctor could not find anything to really relieve the itchiness and discomfort (steroid creams, cortisol creams) and the hair loss coming with the inflammation . Once I started taking a supplement of vitamin D, the symptoms went down 90%

Vitamin d deficiency can be brutal! My body aches were insane, depressed, hair loss, low energy, body acne, increased sweating, dizziness and couldn’t sleep well for the life of me. I began taking 5000 iu/ daily and quickly saw drastic improvements.

I live in Washington and wait 6 months (if lucky) to get an appointment with an NP. Seeing a Doctor is nearly impossible. And then I am lucky to get a 10 minute visit. Last time she told me "you are prediabetic, see you in a year." Folks like you are nothing less than a Godsend. I am writing this with grateful tears in my eyes. May you get front row parking every time, whether it is a play, game, or the grocery store. Bless you🙏

Low vitamin D can cause excessive sweating of the face and scalp. For years I couldn’t figure out why this was happening to me! Realized I was vitamin D deficient and upon raising my levels, the sweating went away.

Very informative as always. Thank you. I live in the UK, which is not known for sunny weather. A few years ago the players of Liverpool football club took part in a study on vitamin D levels. Despite training outside every day their vitamin D levels fell significantly over the winter months. I think their levels nearly halved. Since hearing about this, I’ve taken a vitamin D supplement.

I’m losing hair at a lightening rate. When my hair is wet my scalp screams out at me. It’s been very depressing, on top of my normal depression. I’m 54. On top of that, I’m getting pimples. Probably from stress. I became a semi-hermit since pandemic and life issues.
Thank you for your videos. I am going to have vitamin d checked. Have a great holiday season.
