First to comment here. I'm doing your web stack course, but I want to focus on front-end for the rest of the year. I've already gotten 2 paid small projects booked, one I'm currently working on right now. I believe this is a very good step for me to up my chances of getting an entry level front-end dev. Thanks for all your advices

The importance of projects is insane! I have been doing freelancing for about a year now and everytime I submit a proposal my clients 90% of the time thank me for showing projects. You'd be surprised how many freelancers don't have quality projects. (Also fast communication is key)

Having a good portfolio of real life projects helps to get first job without experience.

Definitely one of the things I struggle with right now is figuring out where I want to go with things. I know that if I don't commit to a choice I'll never get anywhere, but there is definitely anxiety that arises because I know what choice I make has huge consequences for the future.

It seems you're saying once someone learns the fundamentals, they then will have the insight needed to make a choice as to how they want to direct their programming career. I suppose that depends on what you mean by "fundamentals, " but to me, I have learned (for the most part), my fundamentals, and still don't know what path to take. I have taken 2 semesters of Java, and am learning C# right now. I still have to learn data structures, algorithms and similar concepts to really say I know the fundamentals, but it doesn't seem just learning that would help me any in being clarity to things or help me make a choice.

As I commented on another video, I feel EXTREMELY lost, frustrated, and hopeless that I'll ever be able to reach my goal of becoming a software developer, let alone landing a job anywhere.

Without a degree, I don't think I have the luxury to choose any area of coding. Is web development the easiest and most realistic path for a non-degree holder? I mean that in terms of not only how hard it is to learn the skills on my own, but also how much a degree matters.

Hey Stef, Iv been doing web design for 8 years and frontend web dev for 7 years. I know the adobe suite (photoshop, illustrator and aftereffects) and html css and js comfortably well (I know no react, vue or angular however). Iv been applying to jobs left right and centre but I'm having no luck at all. Is there any outside perspective you could offer? Do you think me saying I can do web/UI design and front end dev makes me look like a jack of all trades master of none?

Hey Stef, with regards to applying, is it worth it to spend your time on optimizing your resume and cover letter and apply to fewer companies or is it rather just a numbers game

Interpersonal skills ... 😤
Stef, What's the leetcode equivalent for leveling up on the soft skills?

What do you think about academies that give you training (and pay you while training) and place you with a low salary with a contract for 2 years? I feel like sale my soul to de devil so I don't even apply, but may be a good option to start.

If I'm learning front end web dev can I also apply for software dev or eng also?

Hey Stefan, some YouTubers recommends starting with frontend first, from their standpoint if started with backend we couldn't find any job as a junior developer cuz no one hire junior backend developers they say.
What do u think on this regard ?
