Lex has touched on this more than once - the idea of the "abyss staring back at you". I love this question when it is framed this way, and I have felt this personally. For me, if I think about the vastness of the universe or the complexity of the human brain, it's not difficult to see how one could end up like Bobby Fischer.

My tips are try to be sober, exercise and learn a bit about philosophy. I think this is stuff that kids must do, since their extra emotional and extra impulsive.

I feel like learning philosophy and enjoying debates on politics and taboo topics has kept me well-rounded. It’s also helped me recognize what’s extreme and what there is to enjoy in life, so I’ve never considered suicide, committing crimes or other out of the norm things. I did martial arts, so it helped me stay calm in tough situations, which helps me process fight or flight better. Stay sober so you don’t get used to being in an altered state of mind.

Thankfully, I’ve never gone anywhere near crazy, but I’ve seen a couple friends go genuinely crazy. One of them would go as far as saying he knew certain musicians, that they bought him a Lamborghini, he would move his fingers as if he was typing etc. both cases started with trying cigarettes and ended with heroin and pills.

Every time I let my mind wander like that I look for something to do to get into a flow state. Flow states are those moments where time passes by quickly to you.

Mind disorders are just another type of assumptions and beliefs. Be careful with paying attention to thoughts and question everything in silence. There is no remedy for mind sickness, it is not a chemical type of instrument. So just be careful and enjoy it deeply. Love it.

I personally think it’s a question surrounding how do you cope with life?? Do you use positive coping mechanisms, substances, exercise, meditation, therapy, conspiracy theories?

Disagree strongly but respectfully with that last sentence. Most conspiracy theories are anything but comforting. Most of the ones I've heard are terrifying and induce panic attacks and anxiety attacks and make me genuinely creeped out and uncomfortable. I've never heard a single conspiracy that makes me feel anything even remotely like comforted lol

I think Lex's "Truth" is more "Absolutism" combined with "Extremism". "There is a Truth. I know the Truth. Others don't know the Truth. I must act." That then taken to the extreme.

"the more time i spend thinking of the bigger picture and outside of everyday life..." wait. annaka, everyday life is nestled inside the bigger picture. you are one of God's creations. you have a grand mission to be completed within everyday living... right?

Lex uses flat earth as an example of crazy people being happy, how ironic coming from a guy who believes hes spinning around the sun at 175, 000 miles an hour, on a ball where water stays level, but yet curves in theory, and you can feel minor earthquakes, but the ride through our universe you "relatively" cant feel, he seems
As apposed to the crazy people who feel like they are on a solid foundation
