XFCE is my go to DE. I don't think it gets nearly the amount of love it deserves.

I use Peppermint OS, which uses XFCE. I made it look more modern simple by changing the icons in "Appearance" from default to "High Contrast"

I have replaced xfce with gnome because the 'search' feature of xfce is very slow and must open catfish, even you have that app (syn something or whatever it is). while gnome can finds any file without opening additional applications (like catfish)

I prefer GNOME due to a wide range of accessibility options provided out of the box, like a magnifier or screen reader, ready to use without setup.

Thanks, I'm coming from *_Windows 7:_* ...So, *_KDE_* looked most similar.
...but I am thinking that my ideal setup would be akin to a "Stack" with two vertical system bars:
...(1) a left Taskbar for "Start", "Pins", & "Running Apps".
...(2) a right Bar for "Minimize-All-Button", "Tools", ...AND...
...And most importantly, it would have functionality for "going UP & going DOWN" to switch to different desktop setups: ...Not sure what the exact & ideal default hotkeys would be for this ? ...Maybe PGUP/PGDN &/or Mouse-Wheel Up/Down with Control, Alt, or Shift ??? ...With Numpad+ for "Create New Desktop" and Numpad- (plus confirmation) for "Delete Desktop" ? ...Anyways, you could obviously have the UI-Buttons (Up, Down, Plus, Minus) to click on... i just think having hotkeys would be better: ...That way, you could actually HIDE the vertical taskbars if you wanted.
...is it possible to have this setup with *_Linux_* ??? ...Thanks !!!

I like all three. I used KDE for a very long time, but just recently I switched to gnome for the better integration with email/calendar/contacts.
Other than that I'd still prefer KDE, so customizable and so many options to make it work like you want it to.

XFCE ❤,
Fast, uncluttered, highly customisable

If you love old skool simplicity XFCE rocks.

If you love all the bells and whistles go for KDE.

Gnome is somewhere in the middle.

But it's your choice, there is no 'best' desktop

KDE user here. Was a distrohopper and now settled on KDE for last 5 years...

KDE for me. Mostly because the whole suite of application serves all my needs: Kate, Kwrite, Spectacle to name a few. Also, KDE works seamlessly with variable refresh rate monitors/TV mirrored under wayland.

KDE user here, and I just love the customizable options we have with it. Used to love Gnome back in the day when I was experimenting with Linux, but since I jumped ship from windows, I found that KDE caters for all my needs and has quite a few cool apps that comes with the DE that really makes thing's easier and smoother to use, hence my productivity has improved. Keep up the content bro 🙌

I've played around with a lot of DEs and WMs, but always come back to XFCE.

With a bit of tweaking and extra themes/icon packs, it can be really pretty (without choking my four year old Chromebook).

KDE DEEPIN está muito bonito, o único problema é que tem muitos bugs ainda.
Por este motivo vou de GNOME ZORIN.

The advantage of KDE for me is custom keyboard shortcuts. While most Linux DE's have such functionality, KDE Plasma takes it to a whole other level including being able to back up and restore easily!
Ctrl+D = Dolphin file manager
Win+k = Kdenlve
Win+W = Libreoffice writer
Wind+G = Gwenview on my preferred image folder
Win+9 (ZX81 users will understand) = GIMO
etc, etc...
Try it. Productivity SOARS with no loss of screen space. Also blows Mac and Windows users away.

And, as I say, such can be done under other DE in Linux and I do think it's something more users should 'get into' rather than dockers and hot corners and the like which require mouse movement and wrist ache, as it were. If you find custom keyboard shortcuts works well for you then Plasma is your special friend!
