Why XFCE instead of Gnome?

Ubuntu is still good for people coming from Windows as they are both bloatware. Unfortunately, when you use something that isn't bloatware, there are no features and you can't get anything done.

There is also a gsettings command to stop that. I tend to press simply the power button on my notebook, ez.

I agree that this is silly. that being said, gnome has extensions, so you can just customize it to be a one click action.

Xfce is great, but if you have an good computer, i think KDE is the best option.

kde plasma can poweroff with two clicks. one of for open application menu second is for shutting down the system but you should disable asking and waiting before in settings.

Ctrl + Alt + T (opens terminal)
type "poweroff"
press enter.

Or in gnome you can set shortcut to any custom command
