Top 10 Tips to Heal Baby Eczema

My baby has eczema 🥺
here are my top 10 things that helped reduce & control flare ups

1. eliminate all fragrance
Fragrance free detergents, no laundry softeners/sheets, hang dry clothing & fragrance free lotions and soaps.

2. switch to natural fabrics - no synthetics
Look for organic cotton, linen, bamboo and hemp.

3. bathe in oat baths
I use real oats. Run the bath water over the oats. Ideally bath should last at least 10 mins to allow for the oats to work their magic.

4. Moisturize (A LOT)
After baths, apply lotion right away to damp skin. I moisturize at every diaper change. & I apply lotion in layers. I let one layer absorb and then add another layer until his skin looks well saturated.

5. Slugging (apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly all over each night)
This one is actually backed by the AAD. They claim that it often works better than any lotion or cream. It seals moisture in as an emollient.

6. Dietary cuts (eggs and dairy are key triggers)
I’ve asked for a referral to an allergist. I think my son has many food triggers - definitely eggs and dairy for now.

7. Reduce dust

This is a tough one, but dust mites are a big trigger. Try to vacuum as often as you can. Put your focus on any carpets in bedroom where baby sleeps. I also just ordered an air purifier to place by his bed. And we switched to dust repellent sheets.

8. Add humidity through a humidifier

Being in Canada we have very dry winters and it’s only worse with the heater on all day.

9. Light layers at bedtime (overheating makes it worse)

10. Cover their skin (less chance to break skin barrier through itching)
Flare ups happen when there is a break in their skin barrier. The less they can itch the better.

i struggle with eczema and i use gloves made of natural fabrics such as bamboo and the other fabrics displayed on screen and it helped to not get my skin infected by my nails while unconsciously itching at night.

What a precious baby you have. Beautiful. Be careful what you feed him. Only organic natural foods and beware of allergenic ones.
Don’t trust baby food.
Avoid unnecessary vaccines.
Been there done that. It is not worth it.
You have a very expressive happy baby.

So my 6 month old has extremely dry skin, it started in his stomach with a small patch but now has it in his knees. Every time i try to apply anything with oatmeal or the oatmeal colloidal his skin gets super irritated and he gets tiny red bumps all over his body. Has anyone had this happen to them or there kids?

Salaam! My baby also has eczema & allergies and the specialist told us to get rid of humidifiers as the damp air can cause more dust mites and I’m so confused because we love using ours! Especially when he gets a dry cough / blocked nose.

I was told by a dermatologist to grind the oats into a fine powder. It should dissolve in the water, not sink/float. The idea is that you get the most out of the effects of the oatmilk bath. You are a better mother than my sister and I had
