How To Memorise An Essay ! 1000+ words

Note: British/Australian spelling of memorize is "memorise"

In this short film, Shay shares his top 3 study tips in regards to memorising lots of information-notes-essays. There are many different techniques for memorisation and you should go with whatever suits your style of learning best - audio, visual, speech etc.
Tip #1 = Read your essay/notes aloud as if you were giving a speech in front of a live audience. Try to look away from your notes as much as you can and use your own memory, read each paragraph 3 times and then repeat for the next one.

Tip #2 = Record yourself saying your essay and listen to it. I usually record each paragraph separately so i can focus in on them individually.

Tip #3 = Hand write your essay on a piece of paper under timed exam conditions. Try to look away from your notes, using your own memory as much as possible.

THIS IS WHAT I DOOO. But I also write out each paragraph twice, once from notes and once from memory. Yes u are actually bored of the essay by the end but it’s in ur head

Anyone going through this, chunk it! Learn it paragraph by paragraph :) Just keep copying it out from memory, each paragraph until you get that paragraph down, doesn't matter if it's not exact. I can learn 1000 in words in about 2-3 hours? Depends on the person obviously though, I have a pretty strong memory.

i will say, if you want to memorize phrases in a foreign language ( not a hint at arabic :) ) use the method of reading it out loud and playing it back, its so much better than listening to the suras where they make every noise 18 years long.

Holy shit that recording one made it so fucking easy, I learnt like a hole essay in like 40 mins

I managed to memorise my 1300 word analytical essay on Romeo and Juliet in under 3 hours thanks to this and a few other tricks of my own.
I read each paragraph one sentence at a time first, and repeated each sentence quite a lot until I had nailed it. Then I just strung on the sentences together bit by bit. It helps if your paragraph flows well in terms of cohesion and ideas as well, since it gives it a logical structure that's easier to remember.
Then for every paragraph I had fairly memorised (there were 4) I would walk around my room and full on rehearse it in a really dynamic way like you would see someone in an actual Shakespearean play act, and somehow that helped internalise it even more 😂

I didn't actually have to rehearse it, just try to rewrite it under exam conditions, but saying it out loud in an arguably over-enthused way was really that final push that made it all fall into place 😂100% recommend
