God knew me before I was formed in my mother’s womb, everything about me. Psalms 139

In His wisdom and foreknowledge He knows everybody as Creator God, but only when one is saved by the precious blood of Jesus Christ does He recognize him as His child. My understanding.

Foreknowledge always means "knowledge beforehand". However, the knowledge can be passive or active, so context determines what is being talked about. As was pointed out regarding "I never knew you", that's personal close relationship knowledge and is therefore active. Passive knowledge in comparison would be "I know that person exists" or "I know that 2+2=4". In Romans 8, it says "for whom he did foreknow". The word "foreknow" is a verb, not a noun. Since it's a verb, it's therefore active and not passive. Additionally, the word "whom" is incredibly important because it refers to the object of the verb foreknow....and of course the word "whom" is a generic reference to individual persons. So it's persons that God foreknows.

Read the recent book "The Foundation of Augustinian-Calvinism" by Ken Wilson, if you want to understand the history of this man-made doctrine.

Calvinists have a habit of redefining Ephesians 2:8, by ignoring Ephesians 3:7, and Ephesians 4:7, which reveal it is "grace" that is the gift in Ephesians 2:8.

Eph_2:8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Eph_3:7  Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.

Eph_4:7  But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
