Stop doing regular planks.

It is not an effective way to engage your core.

Keep feet together to help clentch your butt. Pull your ribs and belly in to tighten your core. Push away from the ground. This will create what is called hollow position.

To engage your core even more, allow the top of your feet to be on the ground rather than on your toes.
