Want to build strength and size in your Lower Body? Here are two exercises you should add to your program, along with alternatives if you don't have these available to you. Even if you're training at home, you can benefit from adding in the PRINCIPLES behind these exercises - primarily, the stability and body position to allow you to safely train your quads without putting unnecessary stress through other areas like your lower back.

I really don't think people read this far into these Description boxes, but if you're still here, Uncle Eugene appreciates you.

FYI the Drop Set of Death is a 4x Drop set, performing 10 reps per weight increment, with a 10 second isometric hold at the end of each set. Have fun.

These have been my staples since I was coached by my exercise physiologist
1. Bulgarian split squats with dumbbells
2. Hack squats
Thanks for the tips on both exercises!

I was expecting a "Through the fire and flames" tutorial but all I got was a bunch of leg exercises.

The second time I ever did the Bulgarian Split Squat Dropset of Death, I nearly bit a chunk out of my own forearm trying to distract myself from the pain. "It was leg day" is a strange way to answer the question "Why do you have human teethmarks on your arm?"

I switched from using Goblet squats to Bulgarian split squats during my home workouts and I find it much more effective in training my quads, thank you for this! Cheers! 💯💯

Amazing info, thanks for posting. That task failure vs muscular failure was a real gem, and your squat technique is flawless. I've experienced growth from sumo deadlifts and dumbbell lunges but I've never trashed my legs with Bulgarian split squats or hack squats. I'll definitely be trying those Bulgarians...

Brilliant and very eloquently explained! Oh, but he had to include Bulgarian Split Squats... how I love them, but they are pure FIRE on the legs.

It's great to mix it up with regular barbell squats and other assisted squats, like the hack squat machine. One issue I've had personally, is using machines too much, then ending up with a strength imbalance between by legs and core/back. I got to a point where my back and core would tire much faster than my legs, which began to mess up my barbell squat technique. By the 3rd set I would start to slouch, but my legs would still be O.K.
