Few hints on changing your sleeping schedule to 9-5 (am):
1. Make sure you have an hour of calm relaxing time before bed
2. Don't drink caffeine or other stimulants after morning
3. Get good curtains (no really)
4. Accept that you'll have trouble falling asleep at the start and will miss a few hours of sleep, no matter what you do.
5. Don't use anything with a screen for around 1 hour and 30 minutes before bed. It wakes you up and makes it WAY harder to fall asleep.
6. In the line of the last advice: learn to get into non-phone and non-pc habits, like reading, or doing simple chores.
7. Finally, have a routine you follow before bed. You can do this before you start the challenge to make it easier to fall asleep. Your brain will learn to fall asleep after the routine and it will speed up the process of adapting.

i love seeing more people wake up at 5. to be honest waking up at 5am, disconnecting at 9pm, and in bed by 10pm super helped my depression and anxiety. It was the stepping stone to a ton of other great habits! i was able to go from 225 to 170, read more, meditate, organize my life more, and get my entire work life balance (mostly the life part) in order.

I did this experiment too. But not by choice it just happened every day.

As someone who is a natural early bird and wakes up at 5AM without an alarm, it is so interesting hearing how hard it is and the pros to waking up early

There was a period of time when I was in law school where I woke up at 6AM every day. Easily the most productive era I've ever had in my lifetime lol. I wish I could find that kind of motivation again, it was truly so good for me... but my depression got no chill, I wake up at like noon nowadays 😂😭😂😭

As a student waking up at 5am isn't really optional as I have classes and work to get to but I find not staying up super late or sleeping in super late on weekends or breaks make waking up on work weeks way easier. Keeping your sleep schedule as regulated as possible helps a lot! For example I wake up about 4:50-5:00 Am pretty much every weekday for school or work on weekends or breaks I wake up around 9:00-10:00Am to allow myself to sleep in but not so late that I feel I've wasted the day sleeping.
Rewarding yourself also helps a lot, usually on weekends I love having some tea and coffee cake to start my morning and then watch a show or video I've been interested in but didn't have the time during the week to watch. It feels good and I look forward to it during the week!

I've always had trouble falling asleep but I have a pretty solid schedule now I always take melatonin an 1hr or 30 minutes before I want to be asleep apply some Dr teals sleep lotion (smells amazing) and relax.

This is very true. I don't have to do this challenge because I have to be AT work at 5 am. It's kind of nice having a routine but it's crazy seeing people driving to work at 4:30 in the morning like "I'm crazy. Why are you crazy here with me?"

Reminder that if you do this challenge, you gotta go to sleep early, all the good benefits of this challenge only come if you get at least 7 hrs of sleep, that is the minimum necessary for being healthy in general. From eye bags to things like a higher risk for diabetes, not getting enough sleep has soooo many bad effects on your body.

You made excellent points & being ADHD, I can definitely see how this would be in a sense a helpful progression. But My inner body clock is a night owl. Probably depends. Good for you, tho! Proud! 🎉

if your in college and wanna wake up early, try to get whatever work you have out of the way and set a alarm the night before. But waking up early does give you time to do your daily care, pack your bag and get time to eat breakfast. Personally ive been waking up early since freshman year of high school and now I'm in college I guess I got use to it, I don't like it, but I got use to it.

The easiest way to actually wake up at 5am is to sleep early. For 2 years I had to wake up at 5am to drive a school bus. I tried sleeping at 10-11pm to wake up at 5am and that made it so hard to get up. Id wake up and contemplate If those kids actually needed to be picked up. After 2 months I finally figured it out (helps that I can fall asleep in -5 seconds even if I had just woken up) and I just started sleeping no later than 9pm. I was doing very well! Making my kale smoothies, coffee and breakfast and heading to work early and all. Then I got married, got addicted to morning cuddles and have had the toughest time getting the hubby to sleep before 11pm if I don’t walk him and he will not get up before 7am. Thank god I got a 8-5 job but not gonna lie I do sometimes miss getting up at 5am.

As someone who woke up at 5 am for 2 years due to work, I can say there is nothing I hate more than waking up earlier than 8

Tips I've learned from having to wake up at 4am almost everyday.
1.) As soon as u wake up get up. No joke. Don't let yourself sit there on ur bed. Get up and do your routine
2.) Eat something small. If u not hungry enough to eat a meal eat a lil snack when u get up. Can be some fruit, a granola bar, etc.
3.) If u gotta get up 4 work or school give yourself only a few minutes to get ready. Can't sit around and play on your phone when you got 15 to get ready and head to the bus LMAO
4.) Don't let yourself sleep in on days off/weekends. I know I know everyone wants to sleep in on your day off but in reality it makes u more tired. Get yourself up at a normal time everyday. If u had to work a really long shift before a day off gove yourself an extra 30 sleep. Don't do an hour. It will be harder to get up.
5.) Plan your days off. Don't got to go anywhere? Well that ok too. What do u wanna do on your day off? Catch up on a TV series? Read that comic u been putting off. Plan it. Give yourself a scedule. Will let you get everything done and you will be super tired and fulfilled by the end of the day.

U don't gotta get up super early like I do but these do help you stay productive :))

You know what? Respect for trying stuff out, and staying on the grind. :) getting up at 5 was a habit that frustrated me, and staying in the pattern is hard, until you get that momentum. Major respect.

This might help you guys but idk, I wake up at 4 in the morning to get ready for school, cuz if i wake at that time, i still have time to learn stuff if theres a test or do homework ^^ and if your done showering and have nothing to do, no test, no homework, you still have free time until 6 in the morning you go down stairs to eat and go to school ^^

Been waking up most days around 5-6 am every day for nearly four months now, mainly because of work.
I struggled for a while to go to bed early like around 9pm or so, here what works for me to fall asleep easier.
Firstly turning off the lights/have a low light on.
Second is smells you like, such as lavender.
Lastly calming music on repeat.

Personally I'm in high school at the moment and they make us all wake up at 5-6am depending on 6iur bus routes, they also make the middle schoolers wake up just as early including the 6th graders, who are only 10-11 years old. I get that for some people this could boost productivity or whatever it's supposed to do but for us it just kills our motivation to do work and causes us to fall asleep in lectures. Everyone I've met at this school has admitted to sleeping in class. The school's excuse for making everyone wake so early and learn about geometry? Because some kids have sports and they need to get there by 2 or 3pm. I myself participate in these sports, and even I think it's insane. I think the world will remain in fact if some kids have to find a sports place that runs at 5or6pm instead of 2 or 3pm. But hey, that's just me.
