A little late to this party but I just completed repair of both driver and passenger side plugs in my 07 G35x. I have minimal experience working with interiors and all together this took me 2 hours. Couple thoughts:
1) I disconnected the battery during the repair as I heard you can trigger airbags during the repairs
2) I only needed a screw drivers and a 11in long neck pliers. Definitely a difficult repair without the long pliers as the part is pretty far back into the dash board where it meets the fire wall
3) I didn't need to disassemble the glove box assembly for the passenger side repair. Will definitely save a lot of time by not doing that and I didn't really think it would've added any extra room to work.
4) Seems that there's a little more space on the drivers side compartment and was easier to access, so if you're going to do both at the same time I'd recommend drivers side first just for ease. (I'm also right handed so this could be why)
5) I used part 74816-JU40B ordered from Infiniti Parts Online. 2 cost me $23.46 total which I find comical given how much of a headache this has been.

Thanks for sharing this video. Definitely saved me a ton of money and headaches trying to figure out this mysterious leak that's been going on for the better part of a year.

Fixed my leak thanks for the video. Unfortunately it damaged my bcm (body control module) not cheap so if you have a leak fix it asap!

Great video, however would be nice if you showed step by step on how to gain access to that tube

Thanks, Ainoy! This was hugely helpful and saved me from unnecessarily replacing the windshield (which my mechanic thought must have a leaky seal prior to seeing this solution). Great work and thanks much.
One tip - I'm told the air bags can potentially go off (triggered by static electricity) so to be safe, best to disconnect the battery before making these repairs.

the screw driver was about a 2ft long. when you remove the yellow cap push in on the side where the clip is at with the screw driver while prying it out. with your other hand pull on the hose as well work it til it comes out.

Hi. Great video, but can you post or point me to a video that shows me how to access the sunroof drain plugs in your video (ideally on passenger side where leak is)? I do not know how to remove parts of the dash &/or A-pillar trim. Thank you very much!

just replace the entire sunroof drain tube from the top and run the tubing through to the bottom of the car if you can. anything else trust mee💦 because the leak may also be coming from the top of the roof where the tube is attached to the roof.. Pull your carpets clean with white vinegar then soap, water... last look under your battery tray you will get very upset the main wire harness is just sitting next to a drain hole not protected from water.... Silicon👍

Same exact issue on my 2010 FX35, ordered that part on amazong for 9.99 and will swap out this week, wondering if i can access this part from the hood instead of the dash though.

Bro I was fact checking my theory but when you mentioned the ECM on the passenger & just confirms this was the problem. So I was driving down the highway 60-70mph when all of a sudden I lose control of my g & almost go under a semi jerk the wheel to the left sending me 50-60mph into the median luckily didn’t destroy the frame of the car just left side from fend was busted broke front wheel off & both left suspension kits were fucked. Insurance totaled it. But I’m working on it myself. Moral of the story do not wait on the passenger side leak b/c that can fuck with your transmission to engine speed signal & make you lose control of your car at unfortunate times luckily I didn’t hit anyone b/c was able to some what keep control of my car when I was swerving all over the highway. I know it’s the ECM b/c when I plugged in the OBD scanner it threw up the code U0100-00 which is ECM related.

What did you use for the tube and how did you connect it

Did you cut out the center piece in the hard plastic part and is that a ink pen cap?
How did you get it to stay in place?

I'm having the same problem on my G35 coupe.. Water is running down my dead petal area and pooling under the carpet.. It's so annoying because it's hard to replicate.. Today we got downpours and I have a pool in my car so I guess I will be doing this next.. Thanks

I just got a 2013 g37. And soon as I got in it, it smelled like it had gotten wet. I looked on the floor on the driver side floor, everything was wet. Now I know what the issue is. Taking it to the shop asap.

After heavy rain fall last night and floor carpet a little damp (I've had it much worse in the past, to where i removed seats and flooring and stirafoam. Turned on 5 gallon shop vac and removed about 2.5 gallons of water then fan and dry overnight. Removed battery etc) i took my g37 to buddys shop and he has a thin hose which we blew through sun roof into drain hose I'm assuming. Any chance you guy's think this can fix the issue without removing all that plastic? I appreciate your time and advice!

Ainoy Sykeo, do you have pictures for fixing the same problem on the passenger side (near ECM)?
