I train 4 days a week, I get 3 days off and get to recover, it's great, I don't feel overworked or fatigued

Bingo! When I took my recovery seriously and stopped trying to just go balls out, stopped training hard and heavy literally 5 days a week (12-16 sets per body part) is when I actually started putting on a significant amount of muscle mass.
Recovery is THE most important thing if you're natty.

Fortunately, doing less for longer is my forte. It's what I DO.

With help from this channel, I've started getting more gains going to the gym 2-4 days a week than I was going every day. I was not giving myself enough recovery time. I wasn't really giving myself any recovery time.

I’ve been training on and off for a very long time and it’s taken a lot of that time for me to learn slow down and actually take enough time off to recover

I had 6 months off and got back into the gym Saturday for chest and triceps, legs Sunday, back bi's, and delts on Monday. Taking the rest of the week to recover, im still struggling to sit on the toilet, and it's Thursday 😂

The majority of my gains came in the last few years of doing less than half the volume I did when I started with more challenging weights and 3 rest days a week. Recovery is super important for muscle gain and even more important for building strength

This is exactly what people who do ice bath therapy needed to hear 😂

Dr Mike - how do I mountain bike (up to 200-300miles a month max) without taking away from any muscle gains? I’ve stopped in pursuit of resting/rest days but would like to ride, somehow. What should I do/how can I eat differently? Would love to hear your thoughts, if I’m lucky enough that you’ll read this. Thanks in advance.

Ask not what I can do for you today. Ask what you can't do tomorrow.

It's like the sports car thing of "add lightness". That's just taking stuff off.

I remember reading an article in the late 80s about a famous bodybuilder that would not even take out the trash on his off day 😅

Is there anything I can actually do during recovery from weight training? I feel like it's wasted time when I skip a day. I started September 2nd and in the last 3 months I have skipped 3 days total and all 3 were in the last 3 weeks. If I weight train one day and take a recovery day the next day would doing cardio, cycling for example, would that still allow my muscles to recover while still staying active? I'm in a weight loss exercise mode so eating well, lots of activity, not looking to specifically build anything right now, it's all about losing weight for me so I want to keep my body in recovery mode. In my head I feel like if I keep my body constantly fighting to recover while eating low fat foods, my body will look for nourishment that isn't there and will be forced to burn fat. As of today I am 46.2lbs in to a 220lbs goal so should I keep doing what I'm doing or will taking a day actually help me lose weight faster?

Also, being realistic with your frame of reference. It's normal to take 3-4 days to recover a muscle with proper sleep & nutrition.
The people training the same muscle every 2 days are either roided to the gills or never trained hard in the first place.

Why humans have such a bad habit of making simple things more difficult is beyond me.
