Finally passed today with 0 minors with my third attempt. I literally learned about the clutch through a video of pin teaching his daughter to drive and wow what a journey. I thought to myself to quit if I fail again and to my surprise I actually passed and that too with no minors. So I'm still in shock

Not going to lie, I live in Luxembourg and started doing my driving lessons 2 weeks and have done three 2 hour lessons. And I feel pretty good with the car already and my instructor keeps asking me if I have driven before, because I already know a lot (even though I don't have a lot of self confidence) and I just tell them that I have watched videos on youtube. Those videos are your videos and I definitely can tell that they have helped me a lot. So thank you for that.

My first 3 or 4 lessons were in fairly heavy rain here in Melbourne, Australia. I think the earlier you drive in wet conditions the better driver you’ll be.

Just had my first refresher feel way more confident shouldn't be long before I'm test ready!
My instructor is amazing she makes everything so simple and was able to easily identify my flaws (turns out they're very minor not necessarily test fails but definitely need worked on)
She was very calm when I nearly messed up as well even reassuring me I'd done ok

I got lucky I booked her two weeks in advance and she knows me as I went with her before

Few sub-tips on picking a driving instructor. Be very wary of offers like "Book your first ten lessons for x% off"... If you absolutely know you are dealing with a good instructor that you will get on with, fine. But if you are not definite, these offers essentially lock you in, as they generally don't come with a refund if you don't like the instructor.

Everybody wants to save money, but on the other hand, really good instructors don't need to run offers like that to attract students. Sometimes it is better to pay a bit more in the long run, but know you can sack that instructor and move onto another without leaving yourself out of pocket.

You can find a really good instructor that comes highly recommended, only to realise that you don't get along. Don't be afraid to sack a driving instructor and find a different one, even if it is just a clash of personalities. Your learning can be massively impacted by your relationship with the instructor, it is every bit as important as ensuring your instructor is knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

With wait times atm, I'd personally recommend doing your theory, and getting a practical test before even booking an instructor. I done my theory in December 2022, and I have my practical on Monday, so thats nearly half a year wait.

The first tip can work both ways. My first instructor was with RED and he wanted to pass me in like 20 hours. I had no time to learn a subject properly as he moved onto the next on the next lesson. It's about an instructor that can find your weaknesses and teach on them without spending too long on one subject.

This video was azming to watch and I know what you mean about driving instructor not interested in your progress but not I found a fantastic driving instructor Who doesn't help to drive but gives you advise on what I can do better and also help me with the show me and tell me questions so I have got that advice when it comes to my test hopefully later on this year.

Wish I had all the tips, I gotten my license this year in March and it took me exactly 1 year!

Tell the instructor WHAT you know. And what you want help with. Because some instructors are robots and will tell you what you may already know!
