Is this the BEST FISH AND CHIPS in YORKSHIRE?

I'm finally in Yorkshire. After a few weeks of gesticulating, I'm back up north and in the small town of Yeadon near Leeds to review Murgatroyds Fish and Chips after many recommendations! Time to find out how good it is!

Dear Gary, I’m a Yorkshirewoman, living in Denmark. When I was a little girl, we used to go to Ilkley sometimes, for a day out. We always stopped at Harry Ramsden’s for fish and chips, on the way home. It was a treat, every time. I’m 62 now, and you’ve brought back such lovely memories - a sentimental walk down memory lane. Our family has been going here for over forty years. Always consistently good quality and value. Billy Murgatroyd, the founder was an old mill owner and when the mills shut down Billy used his assets to develop this new venture. We don't see quality wool worsted cloth that was the pride of Yorkshire but we still have glimmers of past success in the form of this outstanding emporium.

Wow Gary and Mr Cameraman, what a brilliant vlog, so many firsts here we need to mention.
First impression of the place, talk about clean and tidy, the place was amazingly smart and that always gives me confidence in a place as they clearly care.
Food, as soon as it came out it had that wow factor and looked the business, and as for portion size you just can not criticise that.
I loved the fact also that nothing was swimming in grease as often happens in a lot of places.
Also i know i go on about it, but the camera work here and close up's were A1, it was like i was actually there.
Well defiantly a 10/10 for me, especially as it was nearly a tenner less than Blumenthal's place, and with no service charge.

There are some terrific fish and chip shops in Yorkshire and I've seen this one reviewed before. I don't necessarily think you need nice surroundings for simple fish and chips, but it certainly seems really pleasant decor without being over the top for traditional food like this. The tea was 'proper' and it needs to be to accompany fish and chips. The haddock looked beautiful and succulent and the batter yummily crispy. And thank goodness for properly thick mushy peas too. Really nice Gary and I think the price was OK for all-in! Totally agree with your 10/10! 👍

Been here many, many years ago and it was excellent. A few years ago we flew in from China and went to the Magpie in Whitby which was also superb plus we had excellent views while we ate.
