Hi, this is Mitra, with Roger CPA Review, thank you for joining me today. Today I'm gonna talk about, why become a CPA.

Now, I've been in the accounting industry for over 10 years and I've seen that it's always been booming. It's a very cutting age industry, because it's always keeping up with change and new technologies. And accounting is a very highly recruited major. So, it's a great industry to get into, but of course there's many career paths you can take.

So, I'm gonna focus on the Certified Public Accountant route, or CPA. So you have six reasons to why you should become a CPA.

Number one, salary. You can make five to 15% more than non CPAs, that translates to about a million dollars more in your career.

Number two, stability. Even during the last US recession, there was a demand for hiring accountants, it was still growing. And even in the last two years, employment for CPAs grew about 22%.

The reasons sound pretty great like salary, making difference, etc. Right now I am studying accounting and I like it a lot. So I have to look into it.

The only reason is money. I'm 3/4 the way to my designation and still stretching to try and find any motivation to write these exams that eat a portion of your life.
I've met too many CPA's who have absolutely no idea what's going on, and many people without the designation who are incredibly knowledgeable.

I am a canadian cpa and cma and work in Healthcare and it is worth it. Most of the roles require it. Have a buddy who has a cfa and cannot find work. Excellent certification in Canada.

I always wondered what is the average IQ of those who have recently passed the CPA. It seems like those who had it had a huge foundation of education prior to entering college. Usually those who make it were duel enrolled students who have complete their masters by age 22. They're what the school board call the gifted students.
