Overclocking used to be worth it but with games being more GPU dependent, is it even worth it anymore?

I overclocked my i5 7600K from 3.8GHz to 4.85GHz, and when paired with a 1060 6GB, it allowed me to go from a stuttery mess on low settings in VR games to smooth VR gameplay with high settings. It's definitely worth it, and with modern hardware, isn't that hard at all.
