Are Factory Overclocked Video Cards Worth It?

Picking a graphics card is actually relatively easy nowadays... Set your budget, pick your team, and go. But which VERSION of a card should you be interested in if you're not planning to overclock?

I was lucky, when I got my EVGA 770, the "superclocked" version was on sale for the same price. Runs everything pretty well.

It still plays new games very well.

Too bad that things like overclocked video cards are not useful for rendering your own 3D graphics videos, which is what I like to do, and this consumes a lot of processing power.

Why not compare factory overclocks to manual overclocks? Why buy a factory overclocked card when I could buy the non-factory overclocked version (assuming the same cooler, such as EVGA's ACX 2.0 line) and overclock it myself?
