Sorry that the sound was a bit low. I placed the microphone in a bad spot when I was on the recliner. But, hopefully you can still hear me.

I just had a CABG 3 1/2 months ago. I was able to prop up in bed and am now just able to sleep on my stomach, my usual sleep position. But I’m back to work with a walker. I was glad that it was stated that it take about a year to feel “normal”. I’ve been looking for that answer.

Some good advice here, but I don't think most people suffer as much pain as the host of the video. I didn't. I'm just short of three weeks out from my quadruple bypass and I stopped taking pain meds a few days ago—and that was just Tylenol. Don't get me wrong: the operation is a huge deal, and it is like getting hit by a truck, but for me and I know for many others, it's not really the pain. The first few days in the hospital are tough because it's such a trauma to your body. I was five days in the hospital, with substantial improvement every day. Once I got home, there was a powerful feeling of just how debilitating the surgery is. Since I got back I've been pretty aggressive with the walking and I can feel normality returning bit by bit. I should say that I was a youthful 62 when I had the operation and had been very athletic and active. I was asymptomatic for some months before they operated. The operation enfeebles you, as if you had a transplant of heart and lungs. It's all about building back strength.

Sleep is very important, and it's something I struggled with. My solution was to both buy a recliner for the living room and to rent a hospital bed. Being able to keep my back at an angle is crucial. I tried sleeping in my own bed and wasn't very successful. It's also very hard for me not to be able to sleep on my side, but you just have to tough that out.

I'm impatient to get through this, and I'm resting as much as possible, but Im also exercising ambitiously. I've been doing over 1.5 miles daily for a week. Did about 3 miles the past couple of days. I feel like I'm getting stronger every couple of days, but my chest is very tender and tingly with the healing. Not fun, but not painful enough to require meds either.

Hey there appreciate this video Oh, I have CHF as of 10 years now . My mitral valve is leaking, at the doctors put it Mildly Still after 10 years ? I doubt that . I keep wondering Why don't they set me up with a valve replacement or replace my heart? Docs say thats only done in an emergency to save my life. So i live with it..what else can one do. I appreciate you tips for comfort. It helps... Ty.
Most nights out of 7 days a wk. I cant sleep flat.. Like you said roughly somewhere around 45 degrees or in between...others have no clue how much difficulty and frustration, but knowing what Relieves that is priceless.

Thanks for the tips and sharing your story! Very similar to my own. I just had to finish rebuilding a department then I could slow down (didn't quite make it). Its been one month since my triple bypass. I'm starting to think about returning to work but I'm really nervous about falling back into bad habits. How did you transition from recovery to getting back to work?

my dad just had triple bypass.
their nurse said not to lift his arms above his shoulders or out at all in any kind of t-pose.

the lifting arms to relieve pressure ur talking about seems like it would make sense, but it apposes the nurses guideline.

I was wondering if I was missing something.

Just watched this my boyfriend is scheduled for heart surgery tomorrow, we want to rent a lift recliner when he gets home, is that better than a regular power recliner that doesn't lift you up?
